Incredible series win by the Ags this weekend against Mississippi State!

I agree with many others on this board that a Top 8 seed comes down to a comparison between the Aggies, Florida State, Alabama, and Florida for seed lines 7-10. I believe that UCLA, Georgia Tech, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Auburn are locked into 1-6.

What are the key metrics that the committee will look at?

Texas A&M - RPI: 11, ELO: 7, DSR: 7, KPI: 10
Florida State - RPI: 7, ELO: 11, DSR: 8, KPI: 9
Alabama - RPI: 6, ELO: 13, DSR: 13, KPI: 8
Florida - RPI: 9, ELO: 9, DSR: 10, KPI: 6

How would you currently seed 1-10?

The key metrics change from year to year, committee to committee. The only thing certain is if you're on the edge of something, like hosting or being in the tournament, and your AD is on the committee, you will end up on the favorable side of the edge.

Unless you're A&M.

I think you're just letting your BAS show through. Ags are a national seed lock. Nobody else has the metrics to beat out an 18 win SEC schedule. Anyone else in the league has our numbers and you'd say they're a lock too.

The competition is for 8.

all things being pretty equal you ahve to look at heqd to head and conference standings if it comes down to teams from the sec.

I doubt they would ever let 5 SEC teams have national seeds and the first 6 looked locked in..

Florida State gets in

AM and Alabama fighting for #8…no head to head to compare, so sec standings and tournament could decide.

3rd place team in the SEC? I'd say that's more than enough. 3rd place team typically gets a top 8 seed.

The Florida AD is the only SEC affiliated rep on the Division I Baseball Oversight Committee Roster. Food for thought.

FSU is also represented.

It is down to the final spot for that # 8 national seed as UCLA, GT, Georgia, tu, UNC, Auburn and Alabama are basically locks for the top 7 currently.

Yep its BAS! Hyman wasn't on committee when TCU was wrongly awarded over us. It wasn't him with the TCU shirt on in the stands when he was still our AD. RC was never the same again after that year.

Also, Bama doesn't have 18 wins. Someone just wrote down on the SEC standings page wrong.

C'mon. I know your Aggie fan but try to add a little bit of reality to the picture. Spots 6-8 are up for grabs and the hardcore baseball fans know it. We have a good shot as we were never swept and all series were competitive. But post season tourny will likely have some influence. Just hope FSU, BAMA, and Nebraska all exit early.

Florida State went 0-4 vs. the SEC...including 0-3 vs. Florida

so the 'noles are out for a top 8 -- cannot be seeded above Florida

Florida went 1-5 vs. A&M and Bama

that's a major disadvantage for the Gators in a 3-way comparison with A&M and Bama

UF has an SoS advantage over A&M, but the Ags winning 2 of 3 in Gainesville should negate that

and one small thing when comparing A&M vs. Bama vs. Florida...

the Ags played both Georgia (1st) and t.u. (2nd)

Bama did not play Georgia

Florida did not play t.u.

(all 3 played Auburn)

so the compromise is neither gets top 8

and they are seeded #9 and #10 to guarantee they won't meet in the SR round

that's another thing working in A&M's favor

if the committee is high on the horns...they have to be high on A&M as well

the sips could not be the #4 and the Ags somehow the #10

the two resumes are not that far apart -- especially with the head-to-head results

BAS is we always choke or the committe does not like us. Not a scandal. Notice Hyman was quickly fired and it was swept under the rug.

What metrics does the committee use? Whichever one backs up,what they were already inclined to do.

I think we are in good shape. If they leave us out of the top 8, they are going to have to do a lot of mental gymnastics. Still, led like to win one in Hoove just to make sure.

I personally don't think we could go lower than nine, and if we do fall to 9, I think it would be unlikely to be at the expense of another SEC team that we finished ahead of in the standings, or even beat straight up. More likely it would be someone from another conference, in which case we'd just go to their place and win a road super, which could be fun.
