Am I the only one who cringes every time the opposing team squares around to show a bunt? Not only this year, but it just seems like historically we have been vulnerable to small ball. Bear airmailed one down the first base line for an error on Thursday. Moss same thing yesterday but looked like he slipped. Then they somehow executed a safety squeeze last night with two strikes on the batter. I know what I would do if I were State today.

Nobody bunts anymore so it's worked on a lot less. Same thing in the MLB.

Bunts are hard against the movement of today's pitches.

Teams don't use limited practice time on bunt defense except that one game against Augie.

Statistically it makes no sense.

A successful, well placed, bunt has always been tough to defend.

Putting pressure on the defense is good. But see #1.

All of these are true in every game. Not just when Aggies are playing.

Fake bunt steal won us a couple games in high school. It has to be practiced to square around and steal late from second.
Chestnuts bunt was the play of the game!
Taking Duer out was the right call I'm fine if don't see him for awhile.

What would Earl Weaver think about Banana ball!

Has anyone other than Moss had problems fielding bunts? He was bunted on three times IIRC at Mizzou. He didn't field any of them particularly well (and I learned he has a serious POTTY MOUTH!). I don't recall much bunting between then and this weekend.

You lost me at benching Duer. He's struggled in recent weeks but you can't call to bench a guy without telling who you replace him with. In this case it's almost certainly TK who is a much worse hitter. Even struggling Duer is working the pitcher and fouling off pitches. But yes, we need to find a way to get him going again. My guess is getting away from SEC pitching will help some.
