Are evening games our Achilles?

The broadcasters were talking about our conference series throughout the season, how we are like 4-4 on G1, but 11-4 Sat/Sun.

Yes I know teams typically throw their best starter on Fridays, but it seems like playing in the daylight gives our batters better sight of the pitch.

I keep saying it. Sims is a great Saturday/ 2nd game guy. The other starters are good Saturday guys. We have no Friday guy. Goal is to win the series but sweeps wont happen much.

It's ranked teams. Nothing to do with evening

Most top 20 teams have pitching

We don't.

Our guys are well compensated professional athletes with unlimited free agency competing against the other team's well compensated professional athletes with unlimited free agency.

The time of day for first pitch should matter none.

We are our Achilles heel. Other teams don't get into our heads. We do that all by ourselves.

We're not good on Friday nights because our Friday night pitcher is actually just a good bullpen arm. I doubt anybody else in the conference throws a bullpen arm on Friday nights.

No, it's conference games that require starting pitching.

Probably true. I don't think we're at the point to play a heavy schedule yet. Lot of younger guys
We need more depth at pitching.

To be where we are in the SEC standings after such average pitching in the 1st game of the series just shows we are strong in several other areas.

We're 2nd in the SEC with a very regular pitching staff, have suffered from multiple weird weather games and we're asking if there are random things that could be an Achilles heel?

This team does not have a #1 pitcher, which is problematic. You can get away with that if you are hosting a regional and you end up playing a #4 seed like Texas Southern, a SLC, or similar team. Even if these #4 seeds have a decent starter, the Ags likely chase them mid game via pitch count or having seen him a couple of times. Meanwhile, the #2 vs #3 seed game has their aces going after each other so that is good as I think Ags #2 and #3 starters are better than most, though thats not always a given.

Where this team is susceptible is against a team with decent arms in a best of 3 SR. The Ags seem to lose Game 1 more frequently and starting a best of 3 game series down 0-1 leaves little margin for error - as we saw against Ole Piss and Auburn in back to back weeks. With this in mind, I don't see this team making a run to Omaha

Again. We got into our own heads.

With probably one of the bottom three pitching staffs in all of college baseball we are done this year. We must go out to the portal and sign proven pitchers. We have some good young players coming back, but we need two or three great position players. There's no way this team can win anything this year, no pitching and too many injured players.

No Doubt. So obvious the offense knows they need 10+ to get it done. That is not what you want your bats thinking about when they walk up to the plate at any level. They can say it does'nt impact them but it does, even if only on a subconscious level. That alone can change the approach if realized or not.

Pray for live arms and BTHO cowbell!
