Am I missing something obvious?
Why no Munnerlyn? I kind of understand Lessentine not coming in. But Pannell who can't throw strikes, and then sparks with the game on the line. I don't get it. Needed this series to have any hope of getting top 8 seed.

Pitching gave up one until the 7th that should be enough to win and they pitch around Mya the rest didnt deliver.
I didn't say this game is on the pitching.
But look at what you have going into the bottom of the 7th. It's tied and we don't throw out best option, or second best option.
If we're looking for a top 8 seed, then I don't see why we put Pannell and Sparks out there. Doesn't make sense to me.
Unless we want to try and boost their confidence and see if one of them can get a hold. Then sure. But to me that says that hosting a super regional is out of coaches mind. Seemed like she was playing the long game, and it back fired.
The risk/reward wasn't there in my opinion to pitch Pannell and sparks. But I'm just a dumb internet guy.

The weird thing is pannell was supposed to be this shutdown closer from Mizzou as I recall (which was why we brought her in).
I also remember Ford saying something about fixing her mechanics…maybe we should let her go back to the old mechanics bc the new ones don't seem to be working for her

Is anyone in the group tracking that Munnerlyn may be injured? Also, would expect more fire from Seniors Pannell and Sparks who have SEC experience.

RPI is at 15 after the weekend. I wonder about the RPI though since Oklahoma is at 6.
Trisha has been trying very hard to find another pitcher other than the Sidneys that will step up and they keep letting her down. Batting wise this team has definitely run into a slump both hitting and luck. So many hard hit balls this weekend went right at a defender. Time to sacrifice a chicken.
Been reading alot and decided to chime in for the first time this season. I agree that bats are cold but give Heard credit for pitching well for SC. She had great movement on the ball and mixed things up quite a bit (definitely better than our pitching). Regarding the decision to put Sparks in, Trish would have done better just leaving Pannel in. I start thinking she has learned her lesson from last year's regional and then she does this. I don't get it. Would getting swept by OU keep us from hosting a regional? You can rest assured that the powers that be would love to send us over to tu again.
If we don't host a regional we will be sent to one of the lower seeds. Which could be Okie State and that would suck. That Sunday loss might really hurt us.

I believe the NCAA has a rule about not pairing teams from the same conference until the super regionals.
getting swept would almost certainly cost a host spot. taking just 1 will put us squarely on the cut line. However the committee would likely need to pick another SEC school that we beat to take our spot. So still a decent chance with one win but no guarantee
OK St and Duke definitely look to get an SEC school.
The final couple SEC hosts would likely get Stanford and Arizona, maybe Virginia Tech
Right now 9 SEC schools likely to host. 3 more will likely be 2 seeds
Auburn, Missouri and Kentucky all very likely to be ineligible for an at large spot
