We quit playing in Longview/kilgore because of the umps. In the same tournament I got into it with one who called a line drive fair after it landed in foul ground past the 1st base bag. His rational was that it was fair when it went by 1st base. We hit the ball. Another parent pointed out that if his ruling was correct there was no need for a chalk line past the bag or a foul pole at the fence. He told us he had been doing LaTournuea games and other college games for years and we didnt know what we were talking about. The next day the home plate ump couldn't find his towl so grabbed a pair of his tighty whiteys to use as face towel. He hung it on the fence behind home plate. I have pictures.

14 years of managing daddy ball for 4 different kids… some of my best friends and worst enemies made during that time. The level of dbaggery is so high, I ended up collecting nice people and didn't matter how good Johnny was if the parents sucked. Had a bunch of these stupid events over the years. If you pitch the next batter, dude just stfu and take your beer belly back to your dugout.

I mostly miss those days. A boy in Little League baseball for 10 years and a daughter in softball for 6 years. In CS, it was great and generally non-political. Things got more interesting when I was on the LL board for a few years and even more political when my son played select baseball and daughter played in the cult most know as select volleyball. But no regrets since one of us was always there to make memories with them.
