Ole Miss just a couple of years ago, Miss St the year before that. It's actually been more of a trend recently.

Ole Miss and MSU were both last or next to last in the SEC the season after winning the title.

Listening to the KU/K-State game after a 4+ hour rain delay... Announcers have counted everyone remaining in the stands when the game resumed.... 28

Not a great week for the top 10…23-15. Glad we had a top 25 road series win.

The UNC/Duke series finished yesterday. Think that was a copy/paste holdover probably.

As for the Top 10 it was really abysmal weekends by UVa and FSU that accounted for about 40% of those losses. That's good news for us as it'll lessen their chances of stealing a National Seed.

Kent is sitting at 9 SEC wins right now. Their Q3/4 record isn't that great. They need desperately to hit 13 SEC wins to have a chance and may become the first fairly recent 13-win SEC team to not make the tournament.

They have Tenn and Ark at home and UFl on the road, so 4 wins means they have to win at least one series.

Ole Miss and Miss State didn't even make the SEC tournament.

Man, what happened to Tadlock in Lubbock. Did he just mail it in when he got the lifetime contract? I know they don't have baseball NIL like they do in football, but good grief. He had that thing rolling and they just disappeared.

In this day and age it's NIL or bust. Their softball and football teams make that very clear.

Tadlock didn't suddenly forget how to coach. For whatever reason, tech is pouring a ton of NIL money into FB, SB, and hoops, but nothing into their baseball program. And tech's baseball facilities are subpar. I mean, they're probably OK for the Big 12, but they don't stack up well against SEC and ACC ballparks.

Football and basketball are money makers.

Softball bc John Seller's wife played softball at Tech. He has a lot of pull on where their money goes.

How many top 8 seeds will go to the SEC this year?

As things stand now the Big 10 will get one for sure and maybe two.

ACC will probably get two.

Independents like So. Miss or Oregon St. might get one.

So that might leave 3 or 4 for the SEC? The Aggies have series against two of the contenders coming up in Auburn and Ol Miss and at no. 15 MissSt could be as well by the time we play them. Things are going to be interesting.

The problem with Oregon St. is that 2-2 Q1 record and the best team they have left is home and away Tuesday split with RPI #95 Portland. Their best wins are at #9 USC and at #26 Oregon (they lost their home game against Oregon). Their next best win is all the way down to a neutral site split of two games against #50 Michigan to begin their season. That is a pretty light resume.

Vandy gave tu Game 3. Pitching and catching were awful. Wild pitches, walks, hit batters, and passed balls generated 3 of the 4 runs. It was a total giveaway.

Likely still heart broken after their boy didn't get drafted.

I'm surprised D1 kept us behind them in the rankings this week, thought for sure we'd move up a spot.

Even with Oregon State's seemingly light schedule, their Strength of Schedule is #35. By comparison, A&M's is #32. The difference is A&M's will continue to improve over the last 3 weeks (even if we keep the PVAMU game) while Oregon State's will get worse.

If LSU and Missouri can win a few games and up their RPI slightly, the 3 LSU wins can go from Q2 to Q1, and the 3 Missouri wins could go from Q3 to Q2.

A 10-7 vs Q1 and 5-0 vs Q2 looks really good compared to UNC at that point.

we would like the SEC to get as many top 8 seeds as possible

so hopefully five

to minimize the chance of an SR pairing with a fellow SEC team

prefer not to rematch Florida or Auburn or Ole Miss in the supers

it was nice playing non-SEC teams during the 2022 and 2024 postseason runs

Has the SEC ever gotten 5? That seems like a lot.

UCLA, GT, UNC will for sure get a top 8 spot and I highly doubt the SEC gets the rest

In 2024 there were five top 8 seeds from the SEC, but no other regional hosts.

Last year, there were six top 8 from the SEC, and Ole Miss and Tennessee were regional hosts.

Here's what D1 said regarding how their top 16 (which had four SEC teams in the top 8) fared over the weekend:

Quote:

1. UCLA unchanged
2. Georgia Tech unchanged
3. Texas unchanged
4. North Carolina unchanged
5. Texas A&M unchanged
6. Georgia unchanged
7. Coastal Carolina slightly down
8. Florida down

9. Florida State down
10. Oregon State unchanged
11. Alabama down
12. Auburn up
13. Nebraska unchanged
14. Ole Miss up
15. Kansas up
16. Southern Miss unchanged

I expect Auburn to jump up up into the top 8. Florida may slide out, but they will be hanging close, and Ole Miss is lurking, too. The RPI for Coastal is at 17 and falling, which may keep them out of the top 8. Oregon State has the same RPI problem as Coastal in that they are 10 and only going to fall from here on out (their independent schedule is not helping them). So, it is entirely possible that we could have five SEC teams in the top 8. Far from certain, but definitely a possibility.
