Staying put.
In Week 7’s ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, Texas A&M held its place at No. 15 after winning its second straight SEC series.
The ranking comes after a perfect weekend for Trisha Ford’s Aggies.
Hitting .400 as a team against the Wildcats, A&M’s bats were led by sophomore Kelsey Mathis, who never cooled off and went 5-for-8.
The weekend kicked off with some early fireworks as the Aggies overcame an early pitchers’ duel, and Micaela Wark blasted a grand slam in the sixth inning to run-rule the visitors.
On Saturday, A&M continued punching as Sydney Lessentine spun seven innings of one-run ball.
An initial back-and-forth affair leaned the Maroon & White’s way in Sunday’s series finale. A seven-run sixth inning pushed the Aggies past Kentucky to secure the sweep.
A&M will host a midweek game vs. Sam Houston on Tuesday, March 24, at 6 p.m. CT before heading to No. 1 Texas this weekend.
