Movin’ up.
After a road series win over the LSU Tigers, Texas A&M softball checks in as the No. 15 team in Week 6’s ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll.
There are no guarantees of any wins in this league, especially away from home. Yet, Trisha Ford’s Aggies went into Baton Rouge and took two of three from a ranked LSU squad to begin SEC play on the right foot.
None other than Mya Perez led the charge with another standout weekend at the plate. The junior went 5-for-6 at the dish with two home runs and six RBI in two games.
The Tigers made the smart decision to intentionally walk her in all four at-bats in Monday’s finale.
Despite failing to secure the sweep, it was a very encouraging outing for the Maroon White to kick off SEC play.
The Ags capatilized off free base runners and LSU’s two errors on Friday. They finally landed on the right side of a one-run game in Sunday’s contest. A&M’s pitching staff limited an SEC foe to two runs in both of its wins.
As one of the 11 ranked SEC teams, the Aggies will take on unranked Kentucky as they venture back to Davis Diamond this weekend.
