Headed to Norman for the series. Never been, anyone have insight on places to hang out? Excited for the series, AND its St Patty's Day weekend. Thanks in advance.

It's been a while. I have to say that, back in the Big XII days, Norman itself was not a big attraction for visitors because it is basically a suburb of OKC where most of the action is. In looking around for a place to stay and such, it looks like to me that there has been some development in this regard in the intervening years, but I don't have any personal experience on the subject.

I'll be staying at the Embassy Suites in Norman.

I recommend staying in Bricktown in OKC and driving to the games as Norman is basically nothing.

Lots of bars, restaurants, and hotel options in Bricktown.

The only thing I miss about the Big 12 is the tournament there. That was the ideal place for a tournament. I think the SEC tournament is staying in Hoover forever, but if they ever seriously consider another spot, they should look at Bricktown.

Baseball takes up most of the weekend so I don't know if you'll have much extra "sightseeing" time. But anyone going to OKC I always recommend the Murray Building (OCK Bombing) Memorial. The museum is excellent and very moving.

The game times on this series are a little unusual, with Saturday being a 4:00 p.m. start, and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. So, on Saturday, you will have time to kill during the day.

Agree. That was an ideal spot. I enjoyed just walking around Bricktown.

Any advice on the parking options? We are attending Friday's game and it looks like we should be able to park at the Lloyd Center.

Yes. The most convenient parking you will find anywhere in the SEC. Plenty of it, and I believe it's still all free.

There will be AMPLE parking available at Lloyd Noble. There should be zero concern for parking with OU Baseball.

The 2 best things about the Big 12 during A&M's time were the baseball tourney at Bricktown and basketball tourney in KC. Now that they are no longer using Bricktown, I wish the SEC would grab it even if just alternating with Alabama every other year.

A huge thumbs up. Bricktown is awesome and the only thing I miss about the Big 12.

Big 12 is now playing the tournament in Arizona. Should be awesome, a bunch of day games in Arizona in late May.

I live in Arizona and thought the same thing. Forecast here in the Phoenix area next week, mid March, is 104 degrees.

Softball OU series vs Auburn this wkd too, so lil extra crowd around. And the main road to the OU campus is under construction, so expect poor road-designs slowing you down.

Weather looks perfect for Friday (10-15 mph wind) & Saturday (10-20 mph wind), and on Sunday it's Low 60's and very windy 20-30mph with 40mph gusts out of the north keeping balls in.

Any thoughts on getting tickets? Looks like GA seats are $25/each online through OU. Does anyone know if they are cheaper at the gate when you show up or might as well get them online? Looked like the average attendance was typically less than 1,000 so not super worried about a sellout, especially with softball playing the same weekend.

It's not going to be cheaper at the gate. GA will be fine.

Have you been there before? Do the GA bleacher seats have backs?

I've been four times or so, but back in the Big XII days. The GA seats did not have bench backs at that time, and I believe that is till the case. They are redoing the seating areas after this season (I believe).

Days ago I got $28 tickets a level up behind home plate on SeatGeek for friday. So I could imagine finding better than GA for a similar price.

Well apparently I screwed up and Saturday is now sold out. Guess I'll be monitoring SeatGeek, cheapest right now for my family of 5 is $59 each....ouch.

Thanks. I've been trying to find out by looking at pictures, and I thought they looked backless, but it wasn't entirely clear.

Just lookup Google Maps and zoom in. It looks like the lower section is all individual chairs. The upper section appears to be regular bleachers….from what I can tell. I always lookup the fields my son plays at for high school so we know if we need to pack all of our stadium seats or not

I was going to say I'd wait and bet more tickets popup on SeatGeek. But I guess Sunday's game won't be busy bc the weather, so there will be even more demand for Saturday's game.
Ag1188

Sunday's weather forecast is getting colder and windier by the day. Now it's projected to be in the 50's by gametime with 25-35 mph wind and gusts of 50 mph. Wind out of the north, so keeping balls in the park. Saturday's forecast is 15-25 mph wind from the South blowing balls out of the park.

From what I can tell, their ballpark is not situated north/south like ours is.

The left field foul line runs pretty much north/south. It's the most common orientation for ball parks. At Olsen, the north south line from home plate would run just to the left of the pitcher's mound and the hitter's backdrop.

For those that have been there before, are the GA bleachers open seating or assigned seating? Went ahead and grabbed a set of 1 and 3 off SeatGeek but they show Row/Seat numbers in my account now so wasn't sure if we would be able to sit together within the overall GA section.
