Player of the Game: Gavin Grahovac
It was going to be between Gavin and Jordan, both of which had outstanding games with Jordan having two HRs to Gavin's one. However, Gavin takes the cake with being a triple shy of the Cycle and bringing in four runs off of his sac fly and three run shot. I loved how he was effective in every at bat he had, getting on base four of his five plate appearances, and the only time he didn't get on was due to a sac fly. Hope to continue to see him perform like he did today.

Pitcher of the Game: Neither
I would like to see more out of these two. I know Moss and Lyons are effective pitchers, but giving up 11 hits and 7 runs was tough to see and won't get us far in harder games. I liked that Moss got six strikeouts to his one walk, but we'd like to see less hits. Luckily, most of them weren't for extra bases.

Overall Impressions:
Great day on offense today. Producing 23 runs on any given day is a great feat, doing so on only 15 hits is even better. We came to the plate ready to make an impact every at bat and did so a lot. The game seemed like it was over before the second inning even started, but we never lifted out foot off the gas, and I think that shows we have what it takes to stay in games and win. Our pitching is not where I'd like it to be, however our offense put us so far ahead it seemed like it didn't even matter. Hope this was just opening weekend jitters, but I expect to see a lot more out of Moss in the future. I know the kid's got what it takes, I just want to see it from him if he's going to start on the bump. It was great to see some of our veterans on the bench get some action. I've missed Travis's speed and I'm glad that we got to see it in action. Can't wait for the rest of the season and I'll get back to y'all again tomorrow after we BTHO Tennessee Tech for the sweep.

Great write up.

I believe Jorian Wilson batted.

Yes, I realized I forgot to add Wilson and Vincent in my final chart. Had to step out in the bottom of the 6th due to Family coming over, so I need to fix those because I accidentally gave Vincent's stats to Lyons.

Well done. Thanks for this summary and for the others you will be preparing this season regarding the play of our Fightin' Texas Aggie Baseball Team.

No worries. I just know the second Hallettsville Hammer got to bat.

In defense of Moss you pitch differently when up 9 before you even take the mound in the 2nd against a lesser team.

Edit: also I suggest you change the format for the stats you choose to list. It's not nice to read. Listing the stat next to the number instead of above would work way better imo.

Great summary thanks! I am not too worried about the pitching. Both Moss and Sdao left a few flat fastballs up in the zone and Tech made them pay for it. I think they will both round into form fairly quickly. I really liked seeing Moss get up above 90 pitches.

Did Farr score a run as a pinch runner? (Great write up btw)

Excellent recap and color. Agree on all fronts. Subscribed.

I think zero errors through two games is the biggest positive. Pitching concerns me.

Edited to add only two walks issued today by our pitching. I will take that.
I hate tu. It's in my blood.

Why does chestnut get a zero for at bats. Thought I saw him up twice. Am I reading the stats right?

Walked twice I think

So, since his two plate appearances were a walk and a sac fly, they're not recorded as at bats for stats reasons, they're just plate appearances. (at bats effect your batting average. So walks, sacs, and HBP's don't count against you since they're not hits.)

Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

I believe that Sdao and Moss will do better (they have in the past) and am going to hope that they are just off to a slow start. I was a bit concerned when Moss caught a spike or something and fell down during his warm up tosses, but, although his velocity today wasn't what I was expecting, it didn't seem to be an issue.

Still, it's fair to say that in our first two games, the pitching was just adequate. No reason it can't be bettter, but no guarantees, either.

Kind of hard to really critique the starting pitching after only two games, however the 6.97 ERA at first glance is a little concerning. On the other hand, they have pitched 10.1 innings and only surrendered one walk.....they have pounded the strike zone. The offense has given Sdao and Moss huge leads, so you want your pitcher to go out there and throw strikes, no freebies. They have done that, but Olsen has been a hitter friendly park these first two games with the wind blowing out...especially today. All in all.....very happy.

Another great day at the plate. Really disciplined approaches from nearly the entire team. I am concerned about starting pitching. I love pounding the strike zone but with that you have to have some great stuff and really execute especially in high leverage situations. I didn't really see that in the first 2 games. Pitching is ok but I am worried for SEC play. Have 3 weeks to get better.

For Moss you have to consider that he sat a long time after pitching in the top of the first. Besides having the huge lead, how much did that sitting affect him, especially the first outing of the year

I would suggest if you keep the format for the pitching line, could you change the order to how box scores have been done forever? IP H R ER BB SO and then add HBP if you want. Maybe nitpicking, but I think that is a more traditional order for reading those numbers.

Aside from that, as someone who wasn't able to follow the games this weekend, THANK YOU for doing a write up like this. I have all but given up trying to navigate our ridiculous 12thman.com website. Finding information on there is a chore, and you have brought the basic information I would look for into a nice, concise form!
