Player of the Game: Gavin Grahovac
It was going to be between Gavin and Jordan, both of which had outstanding games with Jordan having two HRs to Gavin's one. However, Gavin takes the cake with being a triple shy of the Cycle and bringing in four runs off of his sac fly and three run shot. I loved how he was effective in every at bat he had, getting on base four of his five plate appearances, and the only time he didn't get on was due to a sac fly. Hope to continue to see him perform like he did today.
Pitcher of the Game: Neither
I would like to see more out of these two. I know Moss and Lyons are effective pitchers, but giving up 11 hits and 7 runs was tough to see and won't get us far in harder games. I liked that Moss got six strikeouts to his one walk, but we'd like to see less hits. Luckily, most of them weren't for extra bases.
Overall Impressions:
Great day on offense today. Producing 23 runs on any given day is a great feat, doing so on only 15 hits is even better. We came to the plate ready to make an impact every at bat and did so a lot. The game seemed like it was over before the second inning even started, but we never lifted out foot off the gas, and I think that shows we have what it takes to stay in games and win. Our pitching is not where I'd like it to be, however our offense put us so far ahead it seemed like it didn't even matter. Hope this was just opening weekend jitters, but I expect to see a lot more out of Moss in the future. I know the kid's got what it takes, I just want to see it from him if he's going to start on the bump. It was great to see some of our veterans on the bench get some action. I've missed Travis's speed and I'm glad that we got to see it in action. Can't wait for the rest of the season and I'll get back to y'all again tomorrow after we BTHO Tennessee Tech for the sweep.
