I think some just have the natural reaction now to say it was mismanaged lol....No to mention if we get far enough in this tournament all the guys that threw today (even Praeger if needed for an inning or so) could pitch by the weekend. Most of those relievers will be able to pitch Friday again no problem.

Well some folks were calling to pull Prager after the second inning and hope the pen could get us through the rest of the game in hopers of starting Prager on Sunday if we get there. In other words they were thinking about step 2563 instead of step one.

IMO the bully was used exactly as it should have been once we got the lead. Rode Prager as long a possible and did not use anyone else so much that they are not available later in the week. Except for possibly Freshcorn, the whole pen is available against Auburn tomorrow.

Love that we didn't burn anymore pitching than we needed.

Got some late insurance runs instead of failing to manufacture anything.

Prager had a game.

Overall just real nice to play on. Keep it going!!

I can see the negative set saying it was mismanaged (even if I disagree) but horribly mismanaged is laughable.

So I think the game being moved has set us up to maybe make a run.

But an added bonus is not having Tom Hart announce our first two games.

Way to go Ags. Gotta admit, I was pretty worried going into this game with how both teams were trending!

And when the pen gave it up, they'd be screaming to fire the coaches before they got on the plane.

There was a catastrophe my freshman year of college on moveout day that resulted in EMS being called, which just happened to be my sibling on arrival. When he got there he asked if I had been drinking and I said "No, I drank a bottle of Boone's Farm, but that doesn't even count at this point."

Now Prager is unavailable for the rest of the tournament and we traded Prager's availability for Rudis or Lyons not a smart decision.

It's easy to say in hindsight, but if you removed a cruising Prager and the bullpen faltered it would have been foolish.

You have to win today, bro.

And if you don't win this one, there's not a Sunday game.

Sunday is actually a long way away.

SEC teams can score a lot of runs fast, and we don't have a lot of data pointing to holding leads with the bullpen. I don't have a problem with using Prager to make sure you secured today's game.

It is one thing to have the opinion that this is the way to go, it is quite another to claim that the bully was horribly mismanaged.

Prager only got seven more outs. I think are odds are much better to win that game with Rudis or Lyons getting extended work then the SEC championship game Sunday. We have to win them all not just the first one.

2.1 innings isn't nothing when it comes to using bullpen arms.

This team and this point in the season... I totally disagree. Prager has no guarantee to be effective on his next start regardless of when it is. He's been so up and down. On shorter rest, I think you'd expect even less from him. And I'd take "good Prager" right now for 50 more pitches over "short rest Prager" in a few days to go who knows how long.

Since you have this opinion, have you even looked into how effectively Prager has bounced back on short rest and if a less extended outing made a difference or not?

Edit: Those 7 outs probably means one more arm out of the bully today or at very least limiting who we can use tomorrow.

Also, Prager has been inconsistent this year. I'd much rather keep him going on a certified good day than pull him and risk Sunday being a bad day... if we even get that far.

This thread was kinda reasonable.

Is it because people are at work and/or sober?

We will not be using Rudis or Lyons tomorrow unless things are really, really bad. They are not one of our top 3 relievers that we typically turn to later in ballgames.

1. It was mostly the die-hards

2. We got ahead early

The crazies typically stay away when we win.
