What I stated has nothing to agree to disagree about. I just pointed out facts. Prior to last weekend he was not SEC caliber and I only saw posters wishing Kash was back for the Hog series. This was even the good posters on this forum.

Yes, both staffs gave him a chance and both staffs benched him. I actually stated this on another thread the weekend of the Vols series where a poster was calling him not even average and I was stating that's not the case. He is just not a SEC player. The only reason he was playing is due to multiple injuries so no reason to attack him.

Anyway, there's no reason to get on a high horse about this one.

It's what we do, unfortunately.

This board is too harsh.

And it's still the sanest board on the site.

Again, I can disagree whether you think it disagreeable or not. Facts are things like 0-11 with 8 strikeouts... or defensive fielding percentage. Etc, etc.

"Not an SEC caliber player" is 100% opinion and is in fact just the opposite "stating the facts."

Maybe it's nuanced and just semantics, but "not playing at an SEC level" is a very different statement from the above. And this isn't from my high horse, he's still in the back 40 enjoying the beautiful sunshine. This is sitting in my comfy Monday morning QB chair where I've admittedly said lots of stupid stuff too.

Kash is clearly a better first baseman.

Duhh, did I say he was not?

However, he was not at 1st at the start of the season. So for whatever reason Bindy was given the chance to try to win the job again and could not keep it. In fact, he lost it rather easily with his play against average competition.

Anyway

To be clear. Those bashing him prior to this past weekend was BS. But, him earning a playing spot on the field prior to last weekend had also not taken place.

Let's see what happens. I hope something has changed permanently and he's a fixture on the team going forward and not a blind hog finds an acorn type of deal.

Stating he's not a SEC caliber player is not the end of the world. It's the best of the best in college. If that offends you, not sure what to think.

And prior to last weekend he had never shown he was a SEC caliber player. That was a fact. So not sure why one would get defensive about it.

But that's why a lot of us were wanting him back. It wasn't anti bindy, just pro Kash at first.

LOL

It was bc you love Kash. The 0-11, 8 Ks, and looking totally lost at the plate had zero to do with it.

Now who's messing with who?

Congrats Blake! Well deserved with that turn around. And way to continue this team's culture of not quitting. Outstanding!

Actually, I love Bindy. He's one of our favorites. Go back through my posts and see.

However, Kash is a much better first baseman. I've said so since we moved him over there.

For those wondering, I think he said in his postgame for g1 vs sc that Caleb Longley worked with him on changing his stance to closed more like Juan Soto... He's been killing it since. Coaching staff gets a big point there.

I agree. Not the end of the world at all. It's just an opinion on a message board.

I agree again. Proven to be the best college ball for many years now.

I'm not offended at all.

This is 100% an opinion so you are once again missing the point or just ignoring it. It's not an unreasonable opinion based on what we saw in games, but it does ignore that two staffs thought he showed enough in practice to give him a chance not only on the roster but as a starter.

Have a great day.

Giancarlo. Earley discussed it in his interview today as well.

I would try anybody even the bat boy if available. Binderup's body language just says not only do I not want to put any effort into this but I just don't really want to be out here anymore.
That's one of the stupidest comments I have read on here.

I will gladly eat crow for the overly hyperbolic comment. I'm thrilled for the young man. He obviously has put in the work and deserves the accolades.

So darn happy for him! And for all you direct haters, go F yourself.

In my household, we started calling him "Binderdown" during his painful slump.

I so hope that he remains "Binderup" in our household as he is an Aggie but also a physical specimen of a baseball player.

We have a 12U select tournament that weekend, but I just purchased 4 seats at the hole-in-the-wall of Disch-Falk for Friday.

You talking about vs A&M on 4/25? Did you purchase via seatgeek or other 3rd party?

I don't see how you bench Binderup when he's this hot at the plate. I don't recall any miscues at first the last couple of weeks either. I would say put Kash in left.

You obviously weren't paying attention. He can't field one hop throws from infielders like most true first baseman. And he allowed a pick off to go right through his glove. If his bat stays hot, put him in left field. If it continues to stay hot after Caden goes back into left, DH him.

Agree. You don't sit someone with a ridiculous OPS of 1.692 over the past week. He will cool off but you don't need to actively douse the fire.

He struggled more early but his defensive stats are only marginally worse than Kash with 4 errors so maybe you're not paying attention. I would agree that Kash is more solid defensively at first but I think he will be significantly better than Binderup in left. Farr is good enough defensively there but clearly adding Kash would give us a better bat. Regardless, we must have good defense in left.

You are relying on the official scorekeeper at Olsen? Really?

If you think there is any comparison between Binderup and Kash as defensive first basemen, I don't know what to say. Binderup is improved, but he's just hoping to be average, and still isn't quite there, yet. First base is much more important defensively than left. He's got to dig throws out of the dirt, snag errant pickoffs, and patrol his part of foul territory for foul pops. The bat will figure into the decision in a big way, but, from a defensive standpoint, we are a MUCH stronger defensive team with Kash at first.

Thanks for the explanation. I had no idea what a first baseman did. Personally, with our pitching, I think left field will typically have to make as many, if not more, difficult plays during the course of a game.

This is the thread where I called Bindy a superstar, where I said criticizing him was off the table, and where I said I knew everything.

Oh wait, here's exactly what I said:

Quote:

I don't particularly care if people were actively calling for Kash over Bindy, or that we should try other options. That to me was a reasonable position based on the results we'd seen on the field. Games are different than practices and scrimmages but ultimately it's the games that matter. What I didn't care for were the personal attacks and insults. There were some really stupid comments that were just over the top, a small sampling of which have been posted by others. I'm not going to search for more...
