Patrick Hallmark is uninteresting? this list stinks. He beat UT and us with UTSA. Dude only has like 2 pitchers on his roster.

He's been at UTSA since 2020 and hasn't made the post season. A coaches resume for A&M should be a lot more than winning midweek games with your weekend pitchers. If you don't like the list then argue for what you would change.

Can T. Ford coach baseball?

I mean he's basically 2nd best in his conference. I guess ECU owns him, not sure if they have some kind of advantage with recruiting or what not.

ECU's coach has done pretty well.

I still wouldn't call him uninteresting, UTSA has been pretty solid under him. But I'm not saying he'd be the best candidate. I haven't looked at all the possibilities out there.

What is the difference between the Not Happening list and the Unrealistic list in that you created a separate catagory for them?

Unrealistic are coaches I think we should look at but probably aren't realistic hires for the cost to get them. The "not happening" group is a mix of guys we will never get & guys we shouldn't want. Probably should split them tbh.

I think O'Sullivan can be had but this board would explode given Florida's season.

In theory, yes

I think the same of O'Connor.

I'd move Deggs to uninteresting, personally. He's too meh for me to consider

IMO 'O'Connor is not any more realistic than Heefner. On the other hand I think Oregon State's conference situation might make Mitch Canham look for greener pastures.

Does texas have a good coach? Maybe we can hire him away.

Canham has no conference and will have no money to compete long term. Even though it could be hard to walk away from his Alma Mater realistically he knows that a job in the SEC has a much brighter future

You have to make a run at Bakich because again you have SEC money versus ACC money and long term it will be harder to compete

And Vaughn. I'd start with these 3. Maybe add the Duke coach in too.

Canham being an alum plays a factor. Heefner isn't happening because as I understand it his faith is a large part of how his program is run and 1 probably wouldn't work in the SEC & 2 probably wouldn't be allowed at a public university. What makes you say O'Connor is unattainable? Afaik he was interested last year.

You didn't list Tadlock and assume it's because he's at his alma mater. He could turn our program around.

I believe Bakich got a big extension in response to our opening last year which is why I put him in unrealistic. He would still be my 1st call though.

You have Duke's coach as good and Stanford as uninteresting, but Stanford swept them this year. Hasn't Stanford been doing pretty well in general too? I feel like they are often in the playoffs. Braden came from there pretty polished.

Vaughn was pretty uninterested in coming last year. Can we afford to pay him well above what bama will counter with?

I didn't put Tadlock because Tech hasn't been any good the last 4 years. If I were to put him anywhere it would be in uninteresting or not happening. Seems likely there's an NIL issue there given the timing but I can't say for sure.

Like Heefner, his name gets brought up almost every time a quality job opens up and he still at Virginia.

I think Duke is a tough job, and I think Esquer is not an NIL era coach. I think of Esquer like a baseball version of Dabo tbh which maybe unfair. Pollard could probably go down a tier. I had him there but it felt wrong to have Vaughn as the only one in "Good".

I hate to be the bearer of reality but we are stuck w earley for a while... at least 2 seasons... probably 3 or 4

Timing was everything last year for Vaughn. He just moved his family from Maryland the year prior, leaving after 1 year is kind of scummy, he did a good job assembling his roster for this year by the time we had an opening, and it would have been a real challenge to do the same here given the timing.

I think the product is bad enough that it won't really be Trev's decision if Earley gets to stay tbh.

He restarted the baseball program at Grayson Jr College and won back to back national championships, and brought Tech's program from nothing to national contenders. I agree they haven't been very relevant the last four years, but pretty sure he hasn't forgotten how to coach and develop players. Like you, suspect it's NIL related.

If Earley doesn't turn things around (this year or next cuz I'm not certain he's getting fired), I think Vaughn is definitely who we target next.

I'm not sure he's leaving bama after 2 years anymore than he was after 1.

The question is who has the NIL issue. Tadlock or Tech? They support basketball just fine. I thought they were pretty into baseball too.

Possible timing problems last year? I can see a lot of coaches not wanting to move less than a week before freshman report. Or was it just an I'm not interested in your program at all?
