Your text of yesterday getting another mention on today's broadcast.
I sent him another message just now telling him he nailed the pronunciation. Oh, I have a funny story from yesterday.
So we have learned that in New Zealand they use the Maori names for places and towns. And much like when we use the F sound for ph, they use F for wh. So the town we first went to and fell in love with was Whitianga (pronounced fitty-anga).
Tonight on our drive home Google maps told us to turn toward Whakatane. I jokingly told google to watch her mouth and the girls asked what she said. I told them, oh it was nothing and made my turn. Google then repeated the name when it told me to continue toward Whakatane and the girls thought this was hilarious. They laughed and repeated the name over and over.
So the new favorite town around here is apparently Whakatane. A totally legit town name. (***-a-tan-ay)
