Good question. No idea but NIL could smooth things over would be my guess as long as he is not an A-hole to play for.

Skip is a good coach and a great person. He's not a liar who lacks integrity. He is respected by his peers and umpires. He'd be a really good hire.

Character matters, but if it matters more than championships Rob Childress should still be here. No one cares how good of a dude you are when you don't win. That's a fact.

These numbers will get crushed in the SEC. But hopefully the book is right that OU's support for baseball was garbage. He is liked and thought highly of in baseball circles and is a strong relationship/leader type that has actually done a lot more with less. And with A&M's resources, NIL and being in the SEC, etc will help him acquire elite/better talent and depth of talent.

Hopefully NIL will bring the big lumber.

It would be interesting if he was at a comparable program with our level of facilities, recruiting reach, and fan/admin support. I think that we're better at all of those than OU is in baseball. I know that he recruits well and competes nationally without all of the things that come with Aggieland.

If he was a good enough coach he would already be there.

He is 57. If he was an elite coach he wouldn't be at OU.

Status change on Skip.

I've heard he has interviewed already.

My brother played for Tim Tadlock and I hung out with Skip Johnson at the Juco World series back in 2003. Those 2 are good friends and had some of the best JUCO baseball teams in the nation. They created tons of MLB players. Skip's recruiting skills are top notch and he would be back in the central Texas region where he started it all. I don't see how Tim would ever leave his school he played at but Johnson ain't getting paid that much and with the kind of recruiting we can pull I believe he would keep us in the World Series year after year. I don't really follow sports anymore so I don't know any of the other potential coaches but from what I know of Skip and him working with one of the greatest of all time, Augie, that tells me all I need to know right there if Augie wanted him.

Would love to hear what Ryan Brauninger thinks of hiring Skip Johnson.

If he says it is the best the Aggies can do, I will accept that and manage my expectations from here forward.

Let's reverse this then...don't base the Kentucky guy on what he did this past season....

The guy has won more at Kentucky than anyone in the last 40 years

It took 6-7 years to get where he was a few weeks ago. We need somebody to start out at mid 40's and higher.
