look to be very solid… A&M's Cliff Pennington as their lead recruiter… their pitching coach is Max Weiner 2.0 if you read on him…

Can they out-recruit SchlossRatnagle? assuming our penny-pinching AD funds everything a 1st class baseball program needs..

Out recruiting Scloss going forward will be easy. Just play video and use screen shots from the last 48 hours.

We need to do this mercilessly, but I'm sure we won't.

Agreed, think him or Deggs has the best combination of high floor and upside.

Offer him $250K bonus for every victory over the snake, his staff a bonus, and players incentives via NIL for wins over the sips..... we have to get serious.

Of course, taking the players to see a longhorn bull calf get castrated before the series to create a steer, a la Jackie, is highly encouraged also!

There's likely 10+ guys that could come in and continue the run or success, but there's no one that will satisfy the entire fan base.

Checked out DBU coaching roster. Very impressed with the whole coaching staff. Coach Hefner is a very talented & respectful person. Would be a great change from the last coach of Texas A&M Baseball, who turned out to be someone that I would not ever sit by. That coach is evil in more ways than one.

Saban had it right. Kids wont give a damn about any of that. Recruiting is all about the NIL $s now.

If we could get the DBU staff to come to Aggieland, I think it would be a great fit!

I've been trying to sell him here for several seasons. He's a class act and he can coach. He's very loyal to DBU so it might be a hard sale.

I'm all in if he/ they are used to recruiting nationally. Especially Cali.

I know Heefner well and think very highly of him, both as a man and as a baseball coach. But…hear me out on this…he's probably too conservative for A&M. He has very high expectations for his team both on and off the field. DBU is a perfect fit for Heefner and Heefner is a perfect fit for DBU.

And to be clear, I am saying all of this with the absolute highest respect for Dan Heefner. This is in no way meant to be any sort of disparaging post.

We won't hire Deggs. Can't and won't bring him back here after the way his exit from A&M went.

I think your last sentence is key. One of my kids went to DBU and I was asking him about Heefner. He said he knows Baylor has thrown everything they have at him before and he didn't even engage really. I know TAMU would offer a lot if they decided they really want him but I think my son's point is Heefner isn't chasing more money. (Imagine that) He has little pressure where he is and completely calls the shots. My son wasn't saying he wouldn't- more that it would be a harder sell than most other coaches just looking to go to a bigger program for more money. He said who knows. So I'm hoping maybe he has a mental short list of dream jobs and we are it?

Honest Question: Why didn't we want them when we let Childress retire?

Seems like he has been there forever and no one else snatched his group to the big time.

And nothing will be bigger than 2025 SEC baseball...

Being from the area I've followed their program for a long time. He's built a powerhouse at a school/area that *should* be very unattractive to your average college ball player. The location is awful, they have tens of fans at home games, and do not play a flashy schedule (although it did improve with their joining of Conference USA). For these reasons they're very adept at finding players that are all about ball. Kids that truly want to develop and be coached. In this new Wild West version of college baseball they are what a college baseball should be based on principle. Not that it would even make the news if it did happen, but nary a scandal or off the field issue. As a man he's the literal opposite of Schloss in every way. I would love to give it a shot. But as previous posters have mentioned he is loyal to DBU. Good for him. He's a man of principle, thus the money isn't as important to him as it is to most. But if he wanted to make the jump I think it would be a great opportunity for both sides.

We did. Or at least his name was being floated out there at the time as a possibility, as it often seems to be when there's a coaching change in the state. Then Schloss popped up out of nowhere.

I don't disagree with you. What I'm tacitly saying is there's a very good chance A&M wants Heefner a lot more than Heefner wants A&M.

Not sure his strong faith won't fit with the Aggie baseball program. We recruit pretty great kids who appear to be very open about their faith.

Luke - get what you're saying and good to hear about him….. interesting to think if he wouldn't come to A&M, safe to say he would never go anywhere.. while we aren't as conservative as we were 30+ years ago, still A&M one of the most straight as an arrow conservative schools in the country, with some of the best values.

Coach Heef would be a grand slam hire without question. But I don't think there is any possibility he'd make the move. When I say it's not about money, with him, it's truly not about the money. It's about having a program and doing it a specific way. DBU is as much about spiritual development as it is baseball development. It takes a special type of player who values his faith journey as much as his journey towards a baseball career…it's not for everyone. But for those that go through the program are changed forever. They play for an audience of 1, trying to glorify God in all they do. It works at DBU, but would never work at a public institution, even one as conservative as my beloved Texas A&M.

For transparency, my son will be playing for Coach Heef next season at DBU and our family couldn't be more proud. I love A&M, three generations of Aggies in my family and our daughter was an All-American softball player in Aggieland. As much as I'd like to see Coach Heef wearing maroon & white, I think he is and will be a Patriot for life…and I think that is good for college baseball and certainly good for my son. Gig'em!
