They shouldn't institute a robo umpire until the robo umpire is capable of adjusting the height of the strike zone for batters

I thought the umpiring at home plate today was above average for college ball. A few misses, but not the number we are used to seeing.

He had a tight outside corner for most of the game especially to lefty batters. Combs' movement seemed to fool him a bit but I thought it was a fair/even zone for both teams.

Robo umps will be the death of many internet baseball forum posters. It could also lead to animal cruelty, spousal abuse, & other tragic side effects associated w/diminished capacity to ***** about something.

"traditional thinking", like Schloss said is their problem.

Their job only exists to fairly and consistantly officiate a sporting event. I think myself and the Tennessee fans in front of me today could have fairly agreed on a better and more consistent strike zone than what we actually got.

In the CHAMPIONSHIP both teams deserve better

The balls and strikes have been pretty good so far. I don't feel like this crew has missed many calls. The only issie I have is letting Vitello and his merry band of asshats go way outside of what should be allowed without something happening to them.

This ump has been all over the place on the outside

I agree about yesterday. The outside zone was meandering. Previously, the outside zone was consistently lenient.

Umm, processing speed and eyesight is better when younger.

How many pro sports players do you see over 50?

That's a stretch. You're comparing a guy calling balls and strikes to a guy actually on the field competing.
Stop acting like a 50 year old dude is a 90 year old dementia patient. Just a lazy argument.
Know how I know you are over 50?

They are being asked to track 100+ fastballs that run horizontally and barely clip the zone. Age does matter. It's not everything, but it matters.

Get back to me when you're 50 and see how "decrepit" you are.
Y'all kill me.
How'd you like that 'foul ball' call? No one said anything about being decrepit, just that better options are out there.

The OP made a point of saying 50+ year old men.
Bad umps are bad umps regardless of age.
And this dude behind the plate has been bad all day.
I am the OP, maybe your 50+ eyesight is bad? And you focused on that ancillary point- instead of the actual point about robo-umps. You're playing the victim card like a millennial.

lol. Says the generation that made "Okay Boomer" a thing. "Ancillary point" my ass. You wrote what you wrote for a reason. Own it.
The age has nothing to do with it. Again, a ****ty ump is a ****ty ump whether he's 25 or 55.
Ok bud, continue to be obtuse.

I don't think I can call balls and strikes better. I KNOW the technology can.
