If they scouted him knowing that was his MO, I doubt they would have kept that same approach.

Our approach is to swing at strikes (mistakes) not necessarily work counts. Schloss hates bad takes as much swinging at poor pitches. He wants the hitters to be confident not to panic when down in the count.Agmaniacmike12 said:

Notice that UT's approach was very similar today and all season and both teams are where we are because of that approach.

I'm guessing coaches thought they could hit their pitcher today and gambled.
This was a disappointing loss that snapped our 9-game winning streak, but hopefully we bounce back in Game 3 to win the College World Series!

Well it damn near worked. If I'm not mistaken the first HR was the inning we failed to field the pop foul. Make that play and Wilson is out of the inning with no damage (retired the next 2) and Evan likely gets the ball in the 8th

Schloss was trying to WIN today. I like that mentality in a coach. What makes you think CC would be anymore sharp tomorrow? If we got the Cortez we saw most of this postseason today he would have gone deeper into the game. Maybe deep enough that we bridge the gap to A-Beck with a very slim lead.
I just "love" second guessing a coach that has been to Omaha 7 times (8 if you count when Tulane went when he was the associate HC).
