IMO I feel like they may not be "friends" but I believe there's a mutual respect. Despite Vitello seemingly dodging questions, even though he at least mentioned that schloss was down the hall and away from him, I don't feel like you shake another man's hand this way unless there's at least a modicum of respect. That's just my 2 cents. This may have been posted already. If so, my bad.

... While I don't disagree I think the media actually asked them to shake hands

Maybe so and I may not have heard that.

Aside from any of that, I'm not trying to make a case one way or another. Only reason I studied these interviews is solely because of this thread lol.

I think Vitello is a real piece of work at least in the public eye. The players seem to like him. But, I noticed that he couldn't help but cut in to all the player oriented questions.

Also just watching them play…they have a tendency to get out of hand. And seems the subsequently play like hot garbage when that happens. So here's to hoping that happens against us!

This really stuck out to me, as well. Often he didn't let the players answer or fully answer.

His bit on Pat Summit also rubbed me wrong. Based on his unapologetic behavior later in the interview, he really can't use her as a reference point for his program. He does not lead in the same ways that she did.

I think Vitello realizes that Schloss knows where the bodies are buried....

I'd also like to add that schloss comments about Vitello specifically were extremely positive. Idk, I just don't see it.

None of this actually matters though really. I just want to see the ags win it all. My dad class of 84, had season tickets most of my young life. We lived at Olsen. I threw out the first pitch the year that daylon holt was our gunslinger. Will never forget it. Derrin Heinrichs (#44) became really good friends with my dad somewhere in that time frame. I sat in a deer stand out at our deer lease with him and tried to "coach" him through taking a buck. It's long story but yeah. Memories I'll have forever.

I may be a "t-shirt" fan. But I grew up next to and inside Olsen and Kyle. Here's to winning it all! I hope and pray we can scratch out two wins.

Sorry for the rant. I've been silent on this board all season because I've been afraid to jinx anything. Exception of when I was so lucky to catch a Teddy Burton foul earlier this season. Something special about that ball. I don't believe superstition actually makes a difference…but when the boys have been in a bind, I've picked it up and they've found a way out every time.

I love how Schloss added the very complimentary story about Vitello's dad . Schloss plays chess with the media , Tony plays checkers.

For what it's worth, many in the local media here in Knoxville are predicting the Vols will win it all in 2 games. They are not saying anything about A&M...just that the Vols have been the best team all year and there's nothing stopping them. Vitello is the man in their opinion.

I remember when Kiffin was here 15 years ago...they pretty much said the same thing about him. They are hungry for wins, and really don't care about the character of the individual.

Its not just Knoxville. There are lot of baseball fans that count us out.
Tenn is a 58 win team that won the SEC, won the SEC tournament, was the #1 national seed, etc. etc. And they are healthier than us. So very understandable that they are favored in this matchup, even though obviously A&M is really good.

I have like a 40% confidence of us beating them. Would have been at 50-50 if we had Montgomery, Sdao, and 100% Jace.

I saw his older pitching coach standing beside him after his fit, and I honestly felt sorry for him. He looked like a nursemaid with a spoiled, uncontrollable three year old. So thankful we have Schloss at the head of Texas A&M Baseball.

I've seen TV in other situations where I did not care for him but this press conference he came off just fine. It seemed to me he handled most situations in the press conference as authentic. Asked about TCU and his time under Schoss he went directly to the person that had the most influence in his time there who also just retired (so he is top of mind.

As far as jumping in on the player questions it seemed to me he was jumping in to answer the parts of the questions his players failed to answer except for the time he was giving one of his own players a hard time (also done in jest, providing a funny exchange, at least that's how I took it).

Some of you just look for any little reason to not like an opponent.

He was a tool, didn't even say the name schloss. He wasn't very complimentary to our pitching staff either, eluded to how they had faced better and won.

There is a reason why his players are complete tools themselves. He breeds a culture that I wouldn't want my kids to be part of. I actually quite dislike him due to his childish antics and the 2022 team attitude.

But gotta give him credit for getting the most out of his kids.

May not like him but gonna give him respect as he has the highest winning percentage of all D1 coaches for his tenure at TN.

I thought it was pretty cool how he shouted out Boomer White during his presser. "Oh and he was pretty good for the Aggies too"

Vitello was throwing crap in the dugout and screaming in the 9th inning vs FSU when they went down 4 runs. If these games become a pressure cooker who do you think will blink first? I like my guy.
Schloss wouldn't blink at all.

His post-game interview after a loss in Game 1 was pretty good. No issues there. Gave Gavin some praise.

I brought it with me to work! Last night I figured out it was only working for the pitchers. Had to put it down for the batters lol. Only combo I could find that seemed to work this time around.
