I don't recall the University President and Athletic director camping out at Petrino's place promising him a job that would be safe for multiple years. Pretty sure it was just a fat paycheck and a multi year contract that was offered.

If anything, the lie was Jimbo telling Petrino he would run the Offense.

Yep. Texags never disappoints. And if I was Del Conte I would take a hard look at Bakich at Clemson. If they actually fire Pierce.
And I do not doubt they have put out feelers to Schloss and Vitello.

But I have zero control over this so I am going to enjoy the CWS.

Why would that have not already occurred? They would get much more publicity this weekend if the job was open.

What is the advantage of keeping him around?

And you may be right and you may have inside sources. I would wager that you are hearing this from sip "buddies" who act like they know stuff.

If I had a dollar for every "rock solid" claim supposed insider sips have made to me over the last 50 years that never happened, I would be a little richer.

With all due respect, that does not make sense time wise. If they had fired Pierce before the CWS they would be all over the news and game broadcasts.

But who knows? They may be right.

And I have had "insider sip" info in the past that never turned out to be true.

If I was a college baseball coach, I would not want anything to do with that three ring circus in Austin. Any year you don't go to the CWS is a failure, the crappy artificial turf field sponsored by a credit union, Austin in general (traffic, homeless camps)… I guess there's enough money to make someone want it, but you're a couple pitchers getting hurt away from unemployment.

To be fair your sip insiders were making predictions about moves that we were making, not about what they were going to do.

I just truly believe they can't possibly keep Pierce after all this so they will be making a change either this weekend or right after the CWS.

Don't forget FSU and Kentucky were still playing just a couple of days ago, they may be in talks with Link or Mingione as we speak

College Baseball TV coverage isn't running trackers under the feed that say "LSU is hiring Tom Herman" or whatever.

This isn't football.

It doesn't attract nearly the same reporting attention.

Anyone acting like there is some setup planned that would "detract our media attention" is completely fkin delusional about how media coverage of college baseball works.

I could see them wanting to have the perception they are going after schloss.. and then announcing something during the series. They would love to be talked about on a live broadcast of a national championship that A&M is playing for.
