So what do we know about Oregon?

In looking at their game results they won a lot of low scoring games. Their pitching must be pretty good - saw some offensive blowouts too.

At first glance I thought it was a hugely favorable matchup for us - hope it is. At this stage of the season all the teams left standing are full of confidence but one factor that is overwhelmingly in our favor should be the hot and humid weather.

We are -400 to win the series.

They are like Arkansas but with slightly worse pitching and hitting. If our pitching staff is on, we should shut them down but I'm not expecting us to blow them out.

You cannot pump your own gas in Oregon, you have to pay a pump attendant/ ex-con to do it.

Looking at the stats, they don't have an advantage in any part of the game, which doesn't mean they can't win.

If they give up free bases and we don't, I think we route.

slightly off-topic...

but Oregon may be one of the least played schools for Texas A&M across the athletic department

A&M and the Ducks have never played in baseball

also never played in football

A&M and UO did play in the 2022 NIT basketball tournament...and one other time in 1970 in Houston

Their road record is pretty bad, that seems well for us.

I don't believe the heat/humidity will make one iota of a difference. These guys are athletes, not beer gut 50 year olds

Yep. Pretty good description. A poor man's Arkansas.

Good starting pitching and a few decent relievers. I wouldn't trade pitching staffs with them, but on the right day any one of their starters can shut a good offense down.

Offense is fine, but not going to win a slugfest. Would be bottom quarter of the SEC if they played in our conference.

It might for the pitchers, even if it only causes fatigue to come on faster than normal.

And that might have a larger than expected impact on a team which relies on their starters to go deep in games.

For the rest of the guys, you're probably right. But, even for really well conditioned athletes, that heat and humidity can cause issues.

I'm watching the UCSB/ORE game and I notice the top of the order is swinging at first pitch offerings. Lower into the lineup they take more looks.

So, we should take the route less traveled?

What is the route cause of your opinion?

I've heard it before, Grandfather, but tell me again of our home record, and we'll put another knot in the counting rope…

The field is a lot hotter than the stands.

Thinking about the weather makes me laugh. I went to the ncaa track and field championship in Austin in 1974. Same time of year and same weather. When we first got there the Yankee boys were snow white. Us southern boys were golden brown. After about 2 hours the Yankees had turned into lobsters. They suffered the whole time there. I even had one yankee ask me if I were Mexican because I was so dark! Welcome to Texas summertime.

Batting lineup I watched in their 2nd game of the regional. No idea if they have any switch hitters.

That's the 2nd highest odds behind only Tennessee and only because they caught Evansville. Happy the Ags are that highly favored but disappointed in the -400. Was hoping for something better like the -150 I got for the Regionals.

That's not a good matchup for them with Prager and Ashenbeck on Saturday and Sdao on Sunday. Left Cortez off because he's a righty but the way he's throwing the slider right now I'm not sure anyone is a good matchup for him. Not sure I've seen a team more overmatched than UL looked against him on Sunday. To see their All American walk away with a head shake said it all.

I agree. It might mean their starters go 1-2 innings less and that could be the difference.
