It's cute watching OU possibly losing their regional while hosting. Bc I doubt they will be hosting for a long time moving forward.

I get it's frustrating for those who have been around awhile but it's a good thing. The sport is becoming loved by many new fans.

so in the 5 regional final games today...

the 1-seed host is only the designated home team in 1 of the 5 games

OU tonight

Why is it that so many on here are so surprised by the home/away rules? They have always been like this in the postseason…yes we are hosting but technically the regionals are put on by a neutral party in the NCAA…it's the same way in Omaha so it's logical to keep it the same in regionals and the supers
So how is it determined?

The enemy of my enemy is (occasionally) my friend.

But not tonight. Go Huskies!

I think that's an old version, as the last option now is higher seed, instead of coin toss.

Does ou have a high top barbed wire fence outside of the outfield wall?? Or am I just seeing things

Yes, they do. Zero U has a TERRIBLE baseball stadium, JV level. They will instantly have the worst baseball stadium in the SEC along with Mizzou. Having said that at least their carpet resembles a baseball field unlike the carpet in the cow stadium. Ditch Falk has good capacity but is a dump and their playing surface is just awful... a piece of carpet with different colors for the base cutouts and a line to mark the infield... there are HS stadiums in Idaho like that.

I believe Zero U has grand plans to renovate that dump. It should have been a requirement for SEC admittance, most SEC teams are going to be shocked when they go play there, or at least visiting fans will be.

PS - can anyone explain why we were the visitors vs. ULL in the last game????

You're absolutely right and I shouldn't poke fun.

But man, the home/away thing is exhausting. It's every thread. Here and Premium.

This is the higher seeded version (see 4.).

Coin toss is only of 1, 2, 3 & 4 don't resolve things. The only occasion I can think of this is if two #2 seeds advanced to the Supers to face each other. I'm that case they would both be 0-0, same number of home/away, and same seed. So I think it would be a coin flip to determine home and away the first time.

Edit: it's unclear to me if "in that particular tournament" carries over from Regionals to Supers, or if it resets between them. Would make sense for it to reset, but isn't totally clear about that.

I pretty much started ignoring all the questions during the sip game. My thoughts were. If they really want to know they will figure it out. Not going to respond.

#4 says this. I'm thinking the coin toss can come into play in the CWS for those teams that were not regional host.

So it looks like Florida will be the only team to survive the loser's bracket this year - is that right?

I wonder how often that happens? Maybe on average about once a season?

The only time I can remember the Aggies doing it in the current regional format is in 2015 when they had to beat Cal twice, have there been other times?

Re: home / visitor, I think everyone gets it by now, but bottom line the host and/or higher seed in a game should always be the home team, period. Makes things easier and also rewards the better regular season record. The current system makes no sense and has never made sense. But that is normal for the stupid a** NCAA....

But is it necessary to act like this hasn't been happening every year in the postseason for a long time now?

Over the past decade the average is 2. The most was 3.

Florida double-dipped last year too -- beat Tech twice to win the Gainesville regional

likewise Kentucky double-dipped Indiana to win its own regional

and then Stanford got the Ags

What is capacity? 3,500?

That barbed wire fence in outfield makes it look like a prison ball field!

Clemson fan here. Loving the ACC and SEC baseball (as usual). This is a MAJOR reason I'd prefer the ACC to survive intact, however, IF Clemson/FSU depart, Lord please the SEC and not the Big10 where there is no baseball.

Carry on and good luck in the Super. Hope to see yall in Omaha!

2007 we lost Saturday night to ULaLa and had to come up through the lossers bracket.

2008 we lost game 3 and had to play Monday night.

This is a bad UConn team. 34-24 record against trash competition and they are dicing up OU with ease. Pretty pathetic showing by the Sooners at home.

The Ags have come through the losers bracket three times: 1999. 2007 & 2015. They have been doubled dipped twice in Regional play, 2003 by U of H and last year by Stanford.
