Forecast keeps showing possibility of expected heavy storms to move out by early evening with a few possible lingering showers sticking around

As long as that's a possibility they will try to play the game tomorrow.

My prediction is we get the game in tomorrow evening.
Something tells me this storm activity is going to be significantly less than what they are predicting.
We'll see

Models I have seen show a possibility that it might clear by 8-8:30. With the possibility of having to play on Wed I think Schloss will really want to get tomorrows game in.

No change really to the expected forecast.
12-3pm: mostly light passing showers or a storm
3-7pm: Heavy rain, wind, possibly hail and tornado
7-9pm: Remnant light showers possible

From yesterday:
Latest high res models have a vicious MCS (think squall line) coming thru mid to late afternoon with 60-80 mph winds and lower end chance at a tornado. Then clearing SE by game time. Take precaution if traveling. The line should start back NW between Abilene and Waco by late morning and slowly speed up as it heads towards BCS.

2-6 inches of rain possible in a short period of time.

The storm is definitely forecasted to be more organized and it could push through and clear in time for a late start

But can you play the OF if 2 - 6" of rain have just fallen?

Somebody knows the exact number, but Olsen drains a large number of inches per hour.

My son attended a camp in 2021 and there were ponds in LF when they ran their 60s. It was raining on and off all day but they had to get them on the field at some point. There was definitely standing water in areas of the outfield.

The storms seems to moving quickly. The majority may blow thru before game time.

The drainage system was great when installed, but it needs to be replaced. Still drains the water, but not as fast as it used to.

We need Mama Dettmer to come back and organize the parents to clear the outfield.

She was there a few weeks back! But alas, it was beautiful weather.

The predicted rainfall amounts keep dropping and the timeframe of the rain continues to narrow. I still think it pushes to a doubleheader tomorrow but the odds of having a game today appear to be improving...

We will fix the drainage as soon as you guys pay your new seat license fee.

To fix the drains, you pretty much needs a new field. The drain clogs aren't an issue as much as silt and other solids getting down into the gravel/ drain layer over time and slowing the water getting to the drains.

They are going to be digging a big trench through the field to connect the ballpark with the campus HVAC, so it will be replaced anyway.

Looks like we may be able to start game by 9 PM or so as storms move off to our east by 7-8 PM. Only fly in ointment is possible back-building.

I would say we have a 60% chance of playing tonight.

Damn, that sounds like a fairly invasive procedure...

What really sucks is it is absolutely beautiful right now here, slightly sunny, breezy and not very humid.

The amount of rain and when it will clear the area keep looking better as the day goes on. At this point I feel like it's 50/50 that we play today but I expect it to start after 8pm if we do play.

10 pm is latest by SEC rules according to Schloss.

I don't believe the heating and chilled water lines need to run thru the field. They will run down Olsen Blvd.

The existing main storm line run under the field or near to it probably heading to Welborn Rd.

Coach has expressed the need to re-do the field including sub drainage as a matter of course for a field this old.

No way they do that. With as many blowouts and leaks that the current thermal lines have they would never risk that.

With a night game tomorrow, I don't see that being a problem. Let's hope they can get it in.

Where are you seeing that?

The forecasts I've seen show rain starting at 3pm, severe storms at 6pm and nothing below 50% precipitation until after 10pm.

I wish they would go ahead and call it for tonight. Play 2 tomorrow and not (potentially) burn starting pitching with stops and starts. Unless we need to burn Arky pitching.

I would not mind burning Hagen Smith, he's better than Paul Skenes

The other thread on this board says they are making the call at 4pm.

Exactly what I'm seeing as well.

Everyone is looking at the line that is going through Waco right now. What they aren't paying attention to is the line that is forming behind it. Torrential rain and quarter size hail with it.
