I'm not sure how you are claiming these as earlier "versions". They're musically and lyrically completely different songs from Led Zeppelin's. The only thing they share is the song title.

I mean, both Olivia Netwon-John and Rush played songs named "Xanadu", but they share nothing other than the title. And only Rush's song has any sort of oblique reference to the actual source poem by Coleridge (Kubla Kahn). Newton-John's is about a roller disco frequented by the Greek muses who came to life from a mural.

Percy Grainger composed a song by the same title as well. Doesn't mean anything against LED Zeppelin's
