I'm not hearing whistling while watching Vandy at LSU. I think this is much ado about nothing. Even if you go to a game in Nashville, if you are sitting on the first base side (they are on the 3rd), it's not nearly as annoying in person as on TV.

Oh, they get loud in Nashville but they sit on the 3rd base sideline and only really amp it up if doing well.

Best response I've seen is Tennessee. He or they whistle. And then Vol fans clap and chant let's go Vols in response. He/they get pissed.

Side note...went to the game this past Saturday vs Auburn. There was someone whistling on a regular basis. It wasn't quite as bad as the Vandy guys, but it was enough that I wouldn't want to sit next to him. Hoping it was an Auburn fan.

It was some guy standing on the concourse. Doubt it will be a regular occurrence. He was more following along than trying to lead, so he wasn't as annoying as the Vandy turds.

Focusing on things that annoy you is how to be more annoyed. And suggests control issues regarding the behavior of others. It isn't like he was ringing clanga bells and had his speech regulated by the conference…

^^^^^^
Seeing as Greg is the closest thing we have to the Vandy Whistler, yhis response is entirely predictable.

It's amazing how tone deaf these people are- never even imagining they are indeed "THAT GUY!!"

p.s. Greg- don't forget to log in with your alter a d take the opposite viewpoint.

They probably bask in the attention.
They do not care about the program, but rather the fame that they have garnered from leaching themselves to the program, and putting their self-promotion ahead of the program.

What I don't understand is why the athletic department hasn't told them to kick rocks.
Is that the identity of the program that you want?
Does it help recruiting?
Does it help them win?
Does it help put Vanderbilt in a positive light?

Other folks clapping. The Vandy turds try to lead their crowd. This guy was just joining in, at least the times I noticed.

Not assuming - there are 2 guys who are the Vandy whistlers. He if only one is there. They if both are present.

But it is 2024, so I'm not judging.

Can't bring in an air horn. No artificial noisemakers.

Maaaaaaaybe I can get my 8 year old to sit next to him. He's never met a stranger and he's only quiet when he's asleep
Isn't the whistler an artificial noise maker? As far as your 8 yo sittin' next to him. . .that just might work!

Maybe one of those Russian directed energy weapons to pulse him with a debilitating sonic wave.

They actually encourage him. They could've stopped this years ago and they choose not to. It's really gross.

I put this up there with the woo birds. I guess if youre a vandy/tcu fan you just kinda embrace it as "this could altar the game by getting temperatures up". But in all actuality it's just low-int noise to annoy opposing fans.

I'm not one to shy from heckling in CBB, it's part of the charm, but inanely annoying fans/players is just a net negative on the league. If, gun to my head, I had to go to a game at Lupton or get a colonoscopy, I might choose the one that's over after 10 minutes.

The Vandy coach may approve. Seems to me that if he disapproves, he would ask the fan to stop. What loyal fan would deny the coach's request?
