Here is our mascot, a maroon clownfish I saw once. (lighting is bad, but it is maroon)

Serious question…how do the announcers not mention going into the bottom of the 7th that the run rule is effect and why did our players look like they had no idea either?
No that's not what I meant. I don't think it's like football where you can decide at halftime to run the clock. I do believe the coaches have to agree before the game and let the ump know.HoustonAg2106 said:RED AG 98 said:The TA staff in the booth calling the game didn't know either. What do you mean things change? I thought the run rule has to be agreed to by both teams before the games start, are they able to decide it's a run rule game in the 7th inning?

Run rule. Guess we don't get to hear that song in the eighth inning.

He straight up threw Alan Cannon under the bus on this one.Quote:
He was probably told that by a player or manager but they don't know.

What's the big hang up about this? We haven't shook hands with any of our SEC opponents either. It's not a big deal.Maroon Flash said:
So Texas State didn't want to shake hands after the game?
Why are you blaming them and not us?Quote:

I've always wondered how these conversations go. If you are Schloss, do you just flat out ask the other coach, "Do you want to play with the run rule?" I could see where some coaches might take that as an insult. On the other hand, if you are the team on the wrong end of this, you almost certainly don't want to run out your entire bullpen to take an unnecessary beating. Maybe there is a sort of etiquette around this. I don't know, but, regardless of how the conversation goes between the coaches, I can't imagine that it's a priority for them to then go tell the sports information folks that the run rule is in effect.trouble said:
AC probably told him "not as far as I know" and he took it to mean no. It's not like he's in the dugout.
It's literally discussed and agreed upon when the coaches and umps meet pregame. Unless one of them tells someone, we're all just guessing.

I asked Brauny. He said the decision is made at the pregame plate meeting most always; but sometimes a losing coach will in fact make the suggestion in game … so there's that.
