No that's not what I meant. I don't think it's like football where you can decide at halftime to run the clock. But Zane (TA staff) was in the booth tonight and was pretty definitive that he was told there was no run rule and was saying so in the TA premium thread even in the 6th and 7th innings.
Was that 2 minutes or 2 hours before the game? No idea.
Did the coaches share a little fib just because they don't want the players to know about or worry about whether it's in play? Who knows.
I am glad we dominated Texas State on the road from start to finish to improve to 26-3 (6-3 SEC).

Where the miscommunication came from is anybody's guess. If AC doesn't know, he should say he doesn't know. IDK why Schloss wouldn't be upfront with AC. So something did go haywire here.

Yep, with 26 REGULAR SEASON games left. Hard to imagine not winning at least 18 of those. That puts us at 44 wins minimum before Hoover. Just for recent historical perspective, Vandy finished with 45 in 2019.

I've always wondered how these conversations go. If you are Schloss, do you just flat out ask the other coach, "Do you want to play with the run rule?" I could see where some coaches might take that as an insult. On the other hand, if you are the team on the wrong end of this, you almost certainly don't want to run out your entire bullpen to take an unnecessary beating. Maybe there is a sort of etiquette around this. I don't know, but, regardless of how the conversation goes between the coaches, I can't imagine that it's a priority for them to then go tell the sports information folks that the run rule is in effect.trouble said:

I think the crew chief brings it up. I wouldn't be surprised if there's discussion prior to the game by other staff to see how receptive the other team is.
I asked Brauny. He said the decision is made at the pregame plate meeting most always; but sometimes a losing coach will in fact make the suggestion in game … so there's that.
