Well. the sips are very disappointed in Pierce and want to replace him and Schlos was mentioned as a replacement.

They are very apprehensive about next years SEC schedule.
I would very much love to see them try to poach Schloss from us.

I guess it depends on what your criteria the maks some one the best. Is it national championships in the coaches sport? If so, the Pat Henry is probably the greatest A&M coach because of the multiple NCs in men's and women's track.
Coach Henry won both the men's and women's NCAA outdoor titles in 2009, 2010, and 2011,

I bet that record and run of championships will never be broken by another A&M coach.

For the big 3 sports only.
Bible and Bear and Schloss.

I'm also a big Jackie fan. Not happy our leaders caved to media pressure.

I took the question of the thread to mean best coach overall. So encompassing their entire career. Others I see our answering it as just their time here.

I have seen what he was like firsthand at TCU for all of his years and I wanted him as our coach more than anybody because he is the REAL DEAL. A lot of people on Texags didn't want him because in their minds "why would A&M hire a TCU coach again" after Fran AND they were all holding grudges because his TCU teams kept beating us. It always made me crazy that a lot of older Aggies act like anything TCU sports wise is the 1980's crappy TCU football team lol. Their baseball team was Elite in his years and now you can see that our team is headed that way fast.

I'm so excited and it's honestly almost a seemingly unachievable fantasy sports thing for me that Coach Schlossnagle and all of his fun style of play to watch is AT TEXAS A&M. And I think we all realize now that the best is still yet to come with his teams so buckle up and enjoy the Aggie Baseball ride the next several years because it's going to be epic!

Honestly Billy G was probably the best coaching hire … Schlos may change that, and I hope he does

If he wins a natty here then no question.

But I'd like to wait a bit before anointing him. We thought Jimbo was or would be the best ever too.

Schloss is definitely the best we have on campus and better than Childress (I love Rob so that's not a dig at him)

here is what i know.

this is his third season and he has already gotten us further in the college world series than we had ever been. we finished in the top 4 in the rankings which has only been accomplished twice to my knowledge in the major men's sports since 1939.

jimbo 2020 covid season and schloss first season as our coach. jimbo clearly is not but i think schloss is the real deal and will go down as our best coach ever befor it is all said and done. hell he might even get us to play in a championship which hasn't been done since 1939. how is that even possible between football basketball and baseball? i will never know.
1989 baseball was hands down the best team in college baseball, got upset in the regional against LSU and finished #2 in the final rankings. I think 5 losses all season?

Mark Johnson is probably A&M's best baseball coach overall. Schloss is on his way, but he needs more than 3 years to be the best we've ever had. Longevity matters when talking about all time greats. Childress was on his way, but couldn't win in June either.

That said, Mark Johnson's tenure was plagued by poor post-season performance, despite making the post-season all but 4 or 5 seasons out of 20 years. Post-season matters, so MJ could easily be passed up if Schloss keeps winning games in Omaha.

If Schloss wins the CWS this year he is the best we've ever had even if it is only after three years

That's a big if still, but I would agree a NC would put him on the top

Yes. Objectively he is the best coach we've ever had by the end of the first season. Omaha wins. All that matters for baseball coaches. He has em and no other aggie coach does. He is indeed the best baseball coach we have ever had.

Edit: I just saw you meant out of all sports. In terms of Men's sports… yeah I still think so. Football we've never been special (not more than maybe a year or two once a decade at most), basketball has never been anything special either. If he continues to win Omaha games and/or wins a CWS, yes he is the undisputed objective goat of all a&m coaches. Not a very high bar to begin with lol.

The answer to the question of who is A&M's best coach ever is unquestionably D.X. Bible.

A&M Football coach (10 seasons)
Record: 72-19-9
4 conference championships
2 of A&M's 3 national championships
Only coach ever anywhere to hold opponents scoreless in two seasons
College Football Hall of Fame as a coach

A&M Basketball coach (7 seasons)
Record: 90-47
3 conference championships

A&M Baseball coach (2 seasons)
Record: 29-10-1
2 second place finishes in conference

Fair enough. There is something about Schloss though that is unlike any other coach we've had. When I watch our baseball games, I am at COMPLETE peace and have full trust that he knows exactly what he's doing at all times. When we lose it's because we simply got beat, not out coached. It's never been like that (in my experience) with any other coach we've had. I truly believe he is the real deal.

Jackie and BCG had that same vibe for me, exciting games but never felt like we were behind because of coaching.

Agree with this 100%. I was watching a BCG team play and was waiting on a collapse but he made a few calm moves and it got handled. I remember thinkin....."so that's what it's like to have good coaching going for us".

Double three-peat in outdoor men's and women's track and field. Sneering at it is not exactly a helpful gesture.

Equestrian isn't sanctioned by the NCAA today and the western saddle events aren't well represented in the Olympics. But it's a strong program that is closely identified with our large animal vet program. So, again, sneering at it is a denial of the mission of the university.

But I recognize that our football fans might not actually care about the school…
