Place was absolutely packed at first pitch. Every seat full and the standing room only sections were 3-4 deep all the way around. We were out in left field and I can honestly say our section was at least 30% Aggies at first pitch (including Lucci himself). The rest of the stadium wasn't like that so I got lucky with my second market tickets, but I was pretty impressed by the Aggie showing overall.

The energy in the stadium left and never came back after the Montgomery homer. There were a couple innings where Texas threatened and it felt sort of tense, but the place never got loud or enthusiastic after the 1st inning. It was the worst "record crowd" experience you could imagine. Beer lines, bathroom lines, strolling the concourse… just felt like most horn fans knew what was happening and they were waiting for an appropriate time to leave.

And then they did. 7th inning, the place absolutely emptied out like someone had called in a bomb threat.

I was actually a little disappointed that there was no banter, fire, **** talk, anything at all to make this feel like a rivalry game. I experienced none of that. It felt like we were at blue bell watching the Ags beat some southeastern d2 school most of us have no connection to. When I got home I read that this was the largest crowd in the history of the stadium, and that is just sad. And hilarious.

The Yeti Yard is super super dumb. Like the most idiotic student section imaginable in all of sports. What a poorly thought out, garbage money grab.

Hope we play some meaningful competition soon because I have to think tonight was an RPI hit. Horns down. Suck it sips. Bye

How much human feces did you have to dodge on the sidewalk in your trip to Austin?

sips are relegated to a meaningless midweek game. Another lopsided victory. McNeese was more competitive.

I live here and none. That's actually a pretty ignorant and redneck sounding question but you do you

Lol. Geez! Just a joke my guy. I live in SA, we get our fair share of ignorant insults hurled at us too.

More to the point, I've seen it in Austin…and other cities too.

Also, SA tacos beat ATX tacos. And THAT isn't a joke.

Good take. I concur. After we were able to turn double plays to end threats created by walking the lead off batters in the initial two innings, it took all the energy out of the crowd, as the reality of what was happening to them slowly sunk in. The crowd was perhaps 10% Ags, but one might think it was 50% based upon the relative noise made. Thought the umpiring was exceptionally fair and consistent.

It was sweet to see the crowd start to thin in the 5th; and they were pouring out after we batted in the 7th.

This team is only gonna get better and better. So much untapped talent yet to be developed.

Also noticed the teams didn't line up and shake hands after. sips were too busy singing "texas fight" and workin on the railroad.

Such a sweet thumping!

I agree with your synopsis, with the exception of the Yeti Yard. I think it's pretty awesome.

Yeah Texas fans were friendly and it never got really tense like OP said. Crowded as heck but not loud

They need us to not be irrelevant. But they know their team this year isn't good.

So they have to disappear awkwardly…

Tons of Aggies behind our dugout and along the left field. It was great seeing bubbles flying in Austin last night. The best banter I got was from a Georgia Bulldog that was trying to get things going.

Ben McDonald was there and said he had to dodge beer cans, razor blades, batteries, and thermonuclear weapons.

Also, someone kicked his dog.

That stadium is a dump and the playing field is an absolute trash abomination.

In SEC play both cow and the sooners should have to start down 3-0 as a penalty for such terrible playing surfaces aka carpet. Zero U maybe down 5-0 for making teams play at a glorified HS "stadium"....

Edited to add: when these two schools join the SEC they will have 2 of the worst baseball facilities, along with Mizzou and Vandy, and certainly not up to par with A&M, lsu, Pig, both MS schools, USC, FL, even Bama UGA and Kentucky or the UT stadium being renovated in Knoxville.

Not sure if it's because the stadium was over capacity but the cell service was terrible. It was even impacting the beer vendors! The poor guy would take your card and have to hold up his machine praying it could get enough service to get the transaction to go through.

Sections L3 and L4 along the 3rd base line in the outfield felt like it was at least a 50/50 split between fanbases which was great to see.

Any time I watch us play at the Disch, I'm taken back many years to the early 2000s. I was walking to the stadium, and there was a port-o-john setup behind left center field (construction site at the time). A group of tsips were trying to tip it over. Who do I see come out of it (swinging) but wadd96.

RIP Wadd!

Extend this "field turf" penalty to Vanderbilt, Mizzou, and Tennessee while we're at it. No excuses.

I sat in R4 and I got there early to sit in my seat. For some reason they made R3 & R4 GA at first pitch and a lot of people that showed up late found out that their reserved seats had been taken.

Overall a pretty good experience, they got quiet after the Montgomery homer.

It was fun.

Frat kids in front of us kept buying beer to ease their pain. They left early.

People around us all left early.

Craziest thing was that in the first 3 rows behind home plate where trouble and I were sitting was the fact that there were more Ags in those seats than sips. It was glorious

The best feature of the stadium by far was the scoreboard.

Stood near the Cannon. I almost sh** my pants. They were just finding reasons to fire it. After Appel hit the homer, the TU crowd just disbursed. A&M needs to get rid of the berms and put chairbacks.

I have heard he reads TexAgs just to see if his name is mentioned. He is a horrible person.

However I do think the squadron of A-10's straffing his seat was a little much.

Reminds me of how it felt when we kicked their teeth in in Omaha. Didn't hear a peep out of them. It was glorious watching them exit TD Ameritrade with their tails between their legs. They wouldn't even look at us.
