That is exactly what you want in a tournament. After 100 pitches he won't pitch again so save as many arms as possible.

Since it is 13-2 now there is no 7 inning mercy rule, but you throw them as long as they are still getting outs.

Really couldn't have pitched him 60-70 pitches and saved him for Monday if necessary?

The first game against Fresno State, they lost to Jeff Weaver, who struck out something like 15 Aggies, and ended up having a 12 year big league career. Also, Kyle Peterson was the ace of that Stanford staff.

It's the only time we've ever faced Stanford.
