we were there too. I've never seen the campus, as a whole, that dead. the campus and entire town was like the post-apocalyptic empty. pretty crappy timing for a home series against #1. the SEC schedulers/Sankey knew exactly what they were doing.

You think they pulled up the A&M Spring Break schedule before building out the schedule? You're serious or just being funny? I'm genuinely curious.

Why would anyone be intimidated by 203…

Did you go to Kyle and think you knew better than the yell leaders?

For an 18yo, if you've never been to Olsen, you take your cues for behavior from "the regulars."

From the pics that I see on Twitter, agree. They look terrifying….

I go 2 a couple of series per year now and sit near 203. Everything and I mean everything has to be choreographed. It's out of control. When Olsen was at its best it was non stop ragging by everyone. No chanting, no clapping, just yelling anything and everything that was in your head. I feel like so many people are afraid to challenge 203 they just don't do anything.

It's because modern college students are conditioned to aquiesce to authority and 203 is seen as a defacto authority for student behavior.

Further, even on this board, being rowdy and ruffling feathers is "too negative" for the social order. I'm a pariah for saying what we all know. But as robert heinlein wrote "being correct too early is socially unacceptable."

To fix the atmosphere at Olsen you have to get loud and humorous and you can't GAF what everyone else thinks.
Kids would get thrown out if they said the things we said back in the 80's. One innocuous 'ole when a player jumps over the baseline and it's a Hispanic player... you'll get in trouble today.
"Legs! Legs! Legs!" & "Swish! Swish! Swish!" are still my favorite tradition.

Sorry about the lady complaining behind you nonstop. I don't know about the men's bathrooms, but the women's bathrooms are huge and there is basically never a line.

I personally enjoy the games and don't need anybody else to do anything to make my enjoyment better or worse. We didn't do half the stuff they do now when I was a student and I'm glad they do what they like to do but I enjoyed today very much.

We have a great stadium and a consistently good crowd and can even pull decent numbers in during the weekday games. We don't have a lot to complain about.

Some people look for different things at sporting events. Just support the team and enjoy baseball and quit worrying about all the things that are supposed to happen. Things change.

If you anticipate breaks and get to restroom before the crowd, you won't ever miss a pitch. If you're missing an inning of baseball, that sounds like you need a doctor's visit.

Production quality has suffered this year. Music is bland. Funny sound effects are non-existent.

I seem to recall a few of the baseball connected on here saying there was a request from Schloss to stop some of the things that were known as "traditions" in favor of some other things. I don't recall exactly, but I think sound effects and certain classic Aggie Baseball songs were part of that.

I was in the previous weekend and, as usual, had a great experience. Olsen is still a top 10 experience which ain't bad for a traditional baseball power without too many skins on the wall.

If you haven't done so, go to a few other major CB venues and you'll see Olsen is still a special place to watch a game. That's just me…

I went to almost every game in 2021 (my sophomore year). Students were seated by the opposing bullpen that year due to COVID. I was kicked out of a game vs LSU which was our last home series that year for asking an LSU pitcher that had transferred from New Mexico to LSU if the girls had less teeth in New Mexico or Louisiana. Haven't been back since

2020 season was regular seating and the season was canceled early. I don't remember students being near the bullpen during that year.

Every now and then I got the raggies to laugh. I left those games holding my head up high.

Anybody who says our atmosphere is lame… hasn't been to a game in April/May or postseason when the students are in full force

Come back for the Texas game, Ole Miss or Florida series and if it's still bad, then we can talk.

The Olsen experience peaked in 1999 and has been in decline ever since, IMHO. 30 years ago, all of us looked-down on tu baseball because their crowd was so old. We talked about how pitiful it was that there were so few students in their crowd.

Now I look at our "student section" and see a bunch of middle-aged men repeating the same things we were chanting 25 years ago (albeit much faster). Nothing new has been added since before any of the current players were born. Stale is a bit of an understatement.

IMHO, the best thing that could happen at Olsen would be making the upper-deck students-only (+ their guests). It isn't workable at present, because there's no where for any of the folks to sit, but I'd like to see us filling Olsen with current students (in years to come).

Do you want me to show up to 203 and show them how to heckle players and fans?
Ok, but bring Dermdoc w/you.

IMO this biggest problem with this student section is that too many are concerned about doing it right or being funny instead of being LOUD.

So you were so miffed at the treatment you received and the sterile atmosphere that is present day Olsen, that you swore to never return?

But just for funsies you tried to get tickets to the regional/super regional games last year?

Apparently you even got tickets for one of the Super Regional games (congrats, btw- those were not easy tickets to get)
https://texags.com/forums/11/topics/3294189/replies/62232409

But I guess due to your disdain for the state of Texas A&M baseball, you decided to let those seats go unused?

Is this the story we are all going with?

I haven't been to a game in College Station in 20 years. My boys didn't have sports and we weren't traveling for Spring Break so I brought them over to watch the Ags take on number one.

Here are my thoughts:

Atmosphere: (it was deceptively cold in the stands, so maybe I had an impact) I spent the trip over talking about the traditions in the stadium and having them read about what to expect at an Aggie baseball game. Outside of a few bubbles and a half-spirited ball count chant, nothing else was worth noting. It was boring and quiet…except for the lady behind me who complained nonstop to her friends about her job and her family's eating habits. I expected a lot more with LSU in town. The play reflected the mood in the stands. The announcer, music guy and sound effects guy all seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else. Not exciting or engaging. Haphazard at best.

Food and Beverages: meh. And overpriced meh. And every machine asked if you wanted to leave a tip.

Bathrooms: not enough. Plan on missing the beginning of each side of the inning if you decide to visit one.

Watching the actual baseball being played was the best part. Wish the Ags would have gotten the bats going. The umpire was very inconsistent though.

Conclusion: the Aggie baseball experience needs a total overhaul.
It's spring break. Enough said. Spring Break atmospheres almost always suck as most students aren't in town. Now, I will say that back in 97 when Jimmy was called out by the Okie St. Baseball coach given he was pretty much the only person in the stands and was doing his usual thing. I wasn't there but it made the B/CS news and caused the OSU coach to declare that Jimmy should be banned from baseball.

I've been to most of the games this season. A lot of the seats around us this weekend were sold to Aggies who weren't regulars or to LSU fans. Also felt like a lot more little kids around us. 203 was much quieter due to Spring Break. I know it's changed over the years but 203 holds its own. It was just the perfect storm of Ags coming in that aren't there often, empty seats in the club section/behind home base, cooler weather, fewer students, and more LSU fans.

Pretzels are the best food at the park. Just FYI.

The only stand that I know has it is on the 3rd base side, across from Rudy's. They only make a limited number of them so go get one early. It's the same slovacek sausage from the regular wrap but wrapped in the Ben's pretzel dough.
