I'm so glad we didn't get him.

Lol what a turd. Those players reflect their coach as well.

Best not to flip the bat toward the opponents dugout. Also best not to throw said flipped bat back to the other team.

Thuggish programs will get an excessive bat flip in their eye hole every now and then. Tennessee deserves all of it. Tony V will be fired for cause within 24 months btw. Call it a gut feeling.

At least have the leadership ability to delegate that **** and make your assistant throw it over there.

That's just a joke by the way. He's a clown.

Here was right after the toss. Every series they have something like this happens. If they play Arkansas in the SEC tournament, things will get really stupid.

Saw this last night also. Couldn't believe this behavior from a coach. Sophomoric at best.

AT BEST. Closer to freshmantic.

Someone needs to create gifs of every situation like this that he puts himself in, but add huge rainbow clown hair on his head.

I'm guessing if it was his team that bat flipped he would be all for it and "bringing fire to the game is good for my guys"

Vitello is definitely the kind of guy you love if he's your guy and your team is winning, but those antics get tiresome real fast when your team isn't as good. Reminds me of Coach O and LSU.

I disagree. Would I love it if the AGS were dominating SEC baseball to the degree Tennessee is, a degree which I didn't even think was possible in this league? Sure, sounds fun. But I still wouldn't care for Vitello personally if he was doing all this childish **** while our coach, just a style im very much opposed to.

I get your point though, I remember thinking Schloss was a bit bush league
when intentionally stalling to mess with our pitcher's head in the 9th during a super regional the AGS lost at home to TCU. I was mad. But I did see him as a coach that hated losing more than enjoyed winning and he would do anything legal and needed to help his team win - I get how those kinds of coaches can be loved as your own and hated if an opponent. But I think Vitello is more about personal behavior - his own, what he allows players to do, his hypocrisy if done back to his team, and just cheesy showmanship which I wouldn't like even if he was our coach.

Video highlights of from the game. The 9th inning starts at about the 10:50 mark. Watching as it unfolds even in a condensed fashion gives a better feel to what happened that the shorter twitter clips don't -

Tony Vitello interview after the game. A question about the incident at the 1:05 mark

I'm glad you can see both sides even though you don't agree. I'm sure there are some Tennessee fans who don't care for it either, but I'm guessing the majority of the Vols message boards is all about loving his intensity and competitiveness and nothing about how childish and petty he is (which of course is the reality).

I dislike Vitello with a passion, but that wasn't just a bat flip. The Auburn batter flipped it all the way literally to the Tennessee dugout. Clearly was intentional and warranted a response.

It was bad form on both sides for sure, but a coach can't throw a bat at the opposing players like he did. The normal response is a fastball between the shoulder blades.

He's a very good coach and has done a great job with their team. Tenn is becoming a team that's easy to hate. They have some very good, confident and cocky players. Will see if they can finish the deal.

Mildly humorous all the times this board has begged and pleaded for a coach and our team to show some fire. Only to watch this place climb all over itself to get to the moral high ground and condemn the thugs any time another team does.

And maybe some day the coach will grow up and address the situation like a professional leader, not like an 18 year old kid.

I think we'll be waiting a long time for him to mature.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Coach Schlossnagle is killing it here already and will bring a CWS title to Aggieland, maybe multiple.

But IF we couldn't have Schloss for some reason, Vitello would be my next choice. Dude knows how to win. I don't care about his temperament at all. We have no room to act like we're too good for a coach of his caliber.

Glad we have the best of both worlds with Schloss, who knows how to win and maintain his composure. I just think the Vitello-bashing in this thread is ridiculous, quite frankly. Schloss obviously thought he was good enough to have as an assistant at TCU.

Ironic that posters are outraged that a coach tossed a bat , but think an appropriate response it to throw a 95 mph fastball at someone's head.

I'm not defending Vitello's actions. He's a turd. But the batter needs to be ejected for flipping a bat to the opposing dugout.

The batter isn't coming off a four game suspension for bumping an umpire. I also think a coach should be held to a higher standard, but I'm just fine on cracking down on the bat tossing by players, too. All this "Let the kids play" crap is just shorthand for not wanting to teach kids any self-control.

They do stuff like this every game. I don't know it bothers when others do it back.

He's an elite coach. I wish he'd start acting like it.

I think you would find it difficult to see a post where I advocate intentionally hitting a player and I have more experience with Schloss than yall do. No way he would allow his players to act like Tenn does and he has definitely had some brawlers on his teams.

I have higher standard for how a coach is going to act at any playing level than I do the players. Tony V and his staff are leading the charge in this type of stuff. It would be one thing if it was a one off situation, but its weekly and just become part of their brand.

Sad when Texas Tech is classier.

Rephrase, a coach shouldn't be able to throw a bat at the other team's players without consequences.

I like bat flips and taunting in baseball. It's fun. I'm also okay with pitchers showing up hitters after a big K.

People make excuses for winners. It's unlikely that all of your teams are going to win at this clip going forward, and when you start losing games, it's going to look a lot more like petulance.
