Shrike!!!!!!!!!! long time no see man, how ya been?
The last time we were #1 in anything other than track and equestrian was girls basketball in 2011. Meanwhile, Tennessee has the most dominant college baseball team in recent memory. I wonder how good that feels...Quote:
Keep the bat - call it even - in the meantime, if the Ags were first place in baseball - then I would excuse throwing the bat backā¦
Have you noticed that both times Tennessee faced adversity in the SEC Vitello has completely spiraled out of control. After losing to Alabama he was pissed how they celebrated and got himself ejected the following day, and now losing to Auburn this happens.dermdoc said:
Auburn did not do "excessive" bat flips at Olsen.
Tennessee causes all this to happen because their coach is a dbag and players act like their coach. As do their fans.
Player and Vitello should have been tossed and Vitello should have gotten a two game suspension.
Pretty huge difference there IMO. Johnny was the best on the field and had lots of fun off the fieild. And folks didn't like him for one or both of those reasons. Oh and he was a 20 yr old with immediate national fame.Knoxville_Ag_08 said:

I would love to see aTm dominate in a sport I care about. If that means our coach is a jerk, it is what it is... I would have never thought this before Johnny Football, but he showed me winning is fun even if opposing fanbases don't like you.
Both sides were idiots in this.Hop said:tjack16 said:Hop said:tjack16 said:
I like bat flips and taunting in baseball. It's fun. I'm also okay with pitchers showing up hitters after a big K.
I just don't like when coaches and umps make it about themselves
So where do you draw the line on bat flips? Flipping it all the way to the opponent's dugout should be routine now?
It looked to me like he didn't flip it all the way there. Granted it did bounce and roll there. My point is it's not a coach's place to throw it back. That seems childish. He's the leader of the group. He can take exception to it, but don't fight fire with fire and throw it back the other way into the auburn players.
Vitello's throwing of the bat actually was closer to hitting a player than the Auburn guy was
I've never argued that Vitello's actions were justified. He's a buffoon. I'm focused on the fact that none of the umpires even acknowledged what the Auburn player did. The fact that a bat flip has gone from one quick flip near the plate to a bat thrown with such force that it reached the opposing dugout shows this has gotten ridiculous.
If the umpires down rein in this behavior, it will only get worse.
Imho, guys who act like Vitello can never handle the backlash.canaAg12 said:
Softer than wet toilet paper. Its okay for his team to dish out similar antics, but once someone does it to them, plays victim. The man has the most talented team in the country, and he has acted like this on numerous occasions. If he and his team don't act the way they do in games, they don't get bat flipped into their dugout. You act arrogant, other teams are going to show you up. Don't act that way if you can't handle the backlash.
Teams look good without acting like immature children every day.Quote:
This Tennessee team is MUCH more dominant than that team and is arguable the most dominant team in SEC history.
My point is that winning is a lot of fun - having character issues in athletics isn't - but I would take Ws with the issues all dayā¦. Not sure I would have said that before football 2012

This UT team seems like they're going to destroy their regional and then lose to a 2 seed ACC or Big 12 team in the supers. Just calling my shot.
I feel like teams that play like this tighten up when it truly counts and get inside their own heads and falter. But we'll see
They probably thought it was the height of cool when Bautista did it years agoā¦agfan2332 said:
One huge problem going on right now is there is a lot of d-bag tendencies going on in at every level of baseball especially in high school and college. When I played in college 10 years ago, bat flips were almost non existent but for maybe a big walk off. I agree with many that Vitello is a b**** and his team seems to reflect that, but knows how to push the right buttons to win. Not a guy I would ever want to play for and if I did play against one of his teams back in the day, it would make for a long series holding emotions back. This crap he does is just uncalled for from the head coach of D1 baseball program and he's going to get one of his players hurt one day.

Welp, that's my one long shot call for the year. Don't believe anything else I say.
