Highlights from today's game. Bost and DeLoach on fire.

Only bad thing about run-ruling them is missing out on this nine-engine beauty that rolled through as we were leaving (I couldn't get them all in the picture).

If it's too long, you have to work the right angles to get the whole thing in frame

We need to get Frizzell, Bost and big Coleman in the lineup. One of them needs to play LF for Blake. and Schmidt needs to stay in lineup as well.
I don't see either Frizzell or Big Coleman having the speed we need in LF for Blake. Blake had a bad game. He's not going to settle for it being that way and will recover, I predict. I also think with his seniority, he will stay out there. I think Schmidt is an infielder, so I expect they will keep him there? Bost also had a great weekend. I swore Coach C mentioned that Hunter is injured again and Bost would be in there for him, for a while.

Blake is batting .231 with three extra base hits on the season. This isn't a bad weekend for him. We can't continue with that level of production for a starting LF.

You're not wrong about his hitting, the question is who do you replace him with in left?

That's the problem. I think frizzell is too slow for lf, coleman probably is too. Bost's bio says he played 3b in juco, maybe he can? I haven't watched him run.
Cam's not exactly a plus defender, but maybe we could sub him back in for late inning defensive experience.

Frizzell is not going to play defense unless we're invery dire circumstances. Even then, it would only be first base

This was the point I was trying to make, rather poorly. I'm not suggesting you don't mix it up a bit in LF, but I know it won't be Hunter or Lefty. You have to find the right combination of defense speed and bat.

However, I believe with all other things equal, the coaches want the Seniors out there more, as veterans with lots of innings under their belt. If you think back to the SEC tourney and last year's Shriner classic, I believe Cam made some crazy great plays in LF, to keep us in tight games. You don't just throw that out because he's had a slow start and made a few bad reads this year early. I can overlook a little bit of trouble at the plate, especially when 75% of the rest of the lineup is smacking the ball all over the yard. You can afford to let him work through it for a bit, in my mind, if you don't have someone else that is easy to slot into LF. Also, he has hit some deep balls to the warning track, that were caught in the last 5 or 6 games. That looks bad from a BA perspective, but some of those balls were 7-10 feet from being out of the park. So it's not like he is a total train wreck....

This is one of the most reasonable analyses of this situation I've read so far.

Interesting take from Coach Calliet, sounds like everyone recognizes these guys need to step up and play to their potential and they are still planning to give them the chances they need to do that. I hope that works out because I'd love to see these guys succeed.
