Mississippi State wins bottom of the 17th inning 6 to 5 on a single up the middle with two outs after runner advanced to second on a wild pitch.

They did lead off the inning with a single and a double. They were more than likely going to win anyways.
Calling them clutch is giving them some ridiculously undeserved credit. They have this uncanny ability to ALWAYS be in the other dugout when a team chooses to melt down. In just this tournament there was USC and Auburn, I remember an Army game early in the year where the Black Knights blew it in Baton Rouge in the 9th, there was us dropping a fly ball against them. One season doesn't make a program. My statement was a parallel between today and the overall status of our baseball programs.
The elite teams/programs typically find the luck too, because opponents play tight.... for whatever reason, we don't find very much luck at all.
