The SEC used to have great wresting and even men's gymnastics programs. Title IX killed that, as well as any hope of men's soccer ever taking off.

It'll probably never happen, but I hope one day Title IX will be based on the number of sports per gender instead of scholarships.

Sadly, you're probably right. It should either be number of sports or related to participation rates. The numbers game gives us the silliness of men getting women's basketball scholarships.

Many women's golf scholarships go unclaimed every year. There just aren't enough players.

That is rapidly changing, however. It's but a matter of time until the SEC surpasses the BDF there as well.

B12 basketball is KU with the occasional good year by baylor and tu.

Of the latter years we were consistently top 3.

For the sec, you can always count on UK and UF being contenders. LSU, tamu, and ark can have surprise seasons.

Look out for Tennessee. Barnes will forever haunt us.

The fair way would be to exempt football because it makes money* and generates PR. Only money-losing college sports should be subject to title 9 (HS should be strictly enforced)


*A lot of universities do not report football as profitable b/c of questionable accounting methods. The reality is that football generates huge tv revenue for all of the P5s.

You act like the BDF isn't the best baseball conference there is, what with their regular season champion.... wait... nevermind.

They're not reworking Title IX because a very small set of universities make money off a sport.

9 of the final 16 teams in Softball are SEC.

S&D is another.

Men's S&D had 6 of the Top 15 teams.
Women's S&D had 5 of the Top 15 teams.

The BXII only has 3 Men's S&D teams - Sips, WV & TCU.

You may be in the best conference, you're just not one of the best teams.

Depends on the sport and the year. We've won a few SEC and National titles.

It is like hanging out with super models. You may only take one home once in a while, but it is still better than going home with the homely girl begging for someone to take her home.


The SEC has 14 teams, vs 10 in the BXII-2-2+2.

The BXII members can't afford to field teams in every sport and those that do, are not always fully funded.

For example...

M S&D: 3 vs 10 in SEC
W S&D: 5 vs 12 in SEC
M Tennis: 6 vs 13 in SEC
W Softball: 7 vs 13 in SEC

BXII has two major Athletic Org - Sips & OU.

Huge drop after that.

With the SEC...11 of the 14 schools generate more revenue than the other 8 BXII schools.

It is what it is. We get the best recruits... we have the best teams... and we send more players to the Pros. Finishing 2nd or 3rd to the eventual National Champions is not entirely bad.
