Texas A&M Softball disposes of Louisiana Tech in five innings, 10-1
Following wins over Utah and Texas State in the second day of the A&M Invite, the No. 7 Aggies capped off a 4-1 weekend with a victory over Louisiana Tech on Sunday, 10-1.
The Aggies got off to a shaky start in the top of the first when the Bulldogs loaded the bases and scored their only run of the game. The Bulldogs' lead was short-lived, however, as they only held it until the bottom of the second inning.
The Aggies got the ball rolling and picked up the pace in the bottom of the second inning when Kelbi Fortenberry singled to shortstop, stole second and advanced to third base on a throwing error. Then Kristen Cuyos stepped up to the plate and doubled to left center, bringing Fortenberry in to score.
Things got even more exciting for the team in Maroon and White in the bottom of the third inning when Riley Sartain hit one of her two homers of the game to left center. Samantha Show then singled to the left side and was followed by a Cuyos walk and a single from Kelli Milligan. Show and Cuyos then scored on consecutive walks.
A&M played solid defense throughout the game, allowing the Bulldogs just one run.
The Aggies will be back in action on Tuesday, March 6th against Penn State at 6 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.
