I'm kind of surprised by the overall reaction on this board to the policy.

I think a lot of folks seem to be discounting the role of the ushers and the season ticket holders around them.

I'm not fortunate enough to be close enough to CS to have season tickets, but every time I buy, am given or invited along to sit in someone's seats it's seems as though I spend the entire first inning having introductions with the people around me because people become really good friends with their neighbors. If you go to the restroom/hot dog stand/beer garden and someone comes to sit in your seat one of the neighbors is going to tell the filler inner. I think the same is true of people who are always late to Friday night games.

I also think some people are forgetting how many Thursday night SEC games their are at Olsen this yearthose are the games that this is going to be used the most.

Some of y'all need to get a grip. This is a fantastic idea for mid week and Sunday games primarily. Let's face it. The majority of y'all aren't going to lose it when somebody rolls into your seats while we're playing Incarnate Word and you're working in Houston.

god forbid they try to make the game atmosphere better.

Just tell someone to move if they are in your seat. Its not that big of a deal.

While usually not a problem, at times it has been with folks in seats (especially opposing fans) being somewhat obstinate in moving which will evolve ushers and I've even seen the police being necessary. When you are late for a game you usually in a hurry to slip into your seat with as little fuss to you and the fans around you.

While in general I think it could work well for most midweek games (and maybe Sundays), it is going to be at the very least a nuance for reserved seat holder.

As for looking bad on TV, the sections most visible on camera are not open to this. Also if you watch any other SEC games they to often have empty seats in reserved seating for most games.

I think they will have problems with this policy. I don't see the issue of somebody in your seat that big of a deal. You just ask them politely to move along.

Where I seevthe biggest problem is the policy allows for anybody including the opposing fans to fill in among season ticket holders and cause problems. That happens informally now, but the remedy is getting an usher to ask them for a ticket or leave. With this current policy, you have no remedy to get rid of a rowdy/disrespectful/opposing fans that have plopped down in some empties next to you even if they don't have a ticket.

Terrible idea. My seats are in 103, behind the visitor's dugout.. I can't make the Tuesday and Wednesday games, so I used to sell those seats on Flash, but all too often, visiting parents bought them, and the experience was not a good one for my neighbors, so I quit selling on Flash and found someone to buy these tickets. However, the guy who purchases my seats has some mobility issues--he buys my seats because he can get to them (one step down) fairly easily, but, if handicapped seating is available, he will sit there. So, although my tickets are used, I usually have a couple of empty seats. Now, my neighbors will have to deal with visiting parents trying to vulture these seats.

We used to have this problem back before the park was fully staffed with ushers--I recall some particularly unpleasant experiences with Baylor parents.

It's not Aggie fans that will be the problem.

You do own the right. You can show up with two outs in the top of the 9th and make someone move out of your seat.

I read all these dire predictions and it's just sad to me that Ags don't think they can amicably handle someone sitting in their seat without some kind of trouble starting. Just grow up and treat each other respectfully

The point isn't that they can't. It's that they shouldn't have to.

I'd be more concerned about the land grab mentatlity on the bigger games than the fill in on the weekdays. They probably shouldn't allow it on Friday and Saturday games.

Yep. I think some people defending this are not realizing it's not necessarily going to be Aggies. I still think it's a poor idea. Although I've been fortunate to have very respectful opposing fans around me the past few years I know it's not always the case.

Also the matter of a lot of up-and-down and up-and-down people going in and out constantly if people show up for their seats or they want to move. Just really lame bone idea. It's not about being mature to give your seat to people to move it will be shuffling people constantly through the game and annoying everybody.

If you aren't going to go to a game, sell them on Flash Seats or offer them to an Ag. I don' sell on flash Seats much because there is too much chance an opposing fan buys them. But I will still offer them for free to an Aggie fan before they go unused.

Personally, I probably won't take advantage of this policy because we're talking about the 100s vs. the 200s at Olsen. It's not like we're talking about the 400s at Minute Maid vs. seats behind the dugout. The slight upgrade in seats isn't worth having to grab my crap, go downstairs, look for seats that are open, make sure nobody is sitting there, etc.

I would never purposefully relegate myself to the berm, but if for some reason I found myself out there on a hot day, that's the only time I *might* try to find reserved seats.

We're going to be saying that a lot this year. Get ready to have your view blocked by idiots trying to rush in & get empty seats

Until the people don't want to get up in the 7th a d you have to get staff and make a scene.

I had people tell us we could just find other seats when we showed up late to games because of a napping baby and they had no right to sit there.

It will be even worse now, especially for something like a big Tuesday night opponent or LSU etc.

I believe you have to stand in the designated areas for the beer gardens when you drink. So what happens when you leave your seats to go get a couple of beers and are gone for 30 minutes? And you know LSU fans will be taking advantage of this. Horrible idea.

And then you have the pleasure of getting to kick LSU fans out of your seats.

Here's a thought: how about you ask your neighbors to let anybody coming in know that you are at the game and merely up from your seat at that moment? It's not that hard folks.

Because they are my seats that I paid for and no one else is entitled to them. I also should not have to bother my neighbors with this.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but this will do absolutely nothing about the empty seats you see on TV as those are the club area seating for which this attempted policy does not apply

Why should season ticket holders have to go through the trouble and putting responsibility on their seat neighbors to make sure nobody sits in their reserved seats.
I like to get up and walk around , sometimes I'll go get a drink or hotdog and Stand at top Berms for full inning or so.
Now I'll be running people outta my seats when I come back from stretching out my legs.

So if I am going to the game and my guest is ill and can;t go, i may now have an uninvited stranger as my companion.

What are club seats not subject to this policy?

Why is this policy being announced on the day or the first game of the season? Did they think of this last night?

It was tlaked about for a while.

Club seats aren't subject to it because they don't want to piss off any of the high-dollar people by having people flood in. I guess they don't care as much about others. But club seats get access to alcohol and other stuff.

If you have the ticket to your other seat, you can tell someone that the seat is taken. Pretty simple.

How often does this happen, though? Can you not bring another buddy?

Also, most opposing team fans travel in groups, so think of this as a chance to make a friend with an Ag!

Alternatively, lie to him. Show the uninvited stranger the ticket for the seat he wishes to occupy and inform him your buddy is in the bathroom...and it may be a while cuz he had a chilidog for lunch...

it's more because you must have club ticket to enter the club in the first place, same at Kyle. It's not a GA area.

Part of that is the club isn't that big to handle anyone that wants to come in.

Club areas get you the privilege of buying beer and higher priced concessions.

Yep. They do something like this around the 5th inning with their gold seats.

I've also seen this at the Houston Rodeo, or something pretty similar where volunteers and their guests (of which there are many) are allowed to come and sit in empty seats.

I have actually heard stories about Yankee Stadium ushers telling folks they need to move down to empty seats...not the option, but a little closer to an order. I guess that's New York for ya. They've since slashed ticket prices.
