LSU baseball fans, more than anything, think that they are entitled to championships and act like petulant little children when they don't get what they want, they probably still want to fire their coach...
My cousin is an LSU grad. Devout fan through the high and the low, so I respect him for that. But man it is annoying hearing him start the "Fire _____" talk after any loss.

Loyal enough to lead the nation in attendance for nearly 25 years in a row now, and that stretch includes some bad teams. Something like 20K of our fans traveled to Nebraska to support our college baseball team. Do you realize how insane and special that is? No other fan base in this sport comes close to that.

We are very loyal to our team. 1/9/12 was enough sobering disappointment to last a lifetime. I rarely leave games early, even when it's clear we're gonna lose, but I don't fault these people for leaving early at all. The team should have played better and given them something to be excited about. Outside of the failures in the 7th and 8th, our fans had nothing to get even remotely excited about.

There's more to life than sports. Why would I stay up late at night to watch my team lose after another 30-45 minutes if I have important things to do the next day? 4-5 hours of my day at the ballpark is plenty enough. Same thing if watching at home on TV.

I'm gonna wake up tomorrow, and it's gonna suck like 1/9/12 did, but I'll move on with my life. It was still a great season.

Bad teams? You mean the "bad" teams that don't win the national championship? And let's get one thing straight, LSU fans don't have anything important going on the next day. That's why they are in Omaha fir two weeks. And the fans leaving early didn't have anything going on. They were walking to Blatt's to get wasted again. LSU fans are nothing but front runners.

That's a bit of a stretch, man. Yes, Louisiana's economy sucks, but even most of the LSU fans in Omaha have jobs and lives to return to outside of LSU sports. I know several people who make the trip to Omaha every year. They take off work and book hotels months in advance. I guarantee they're on a speedy flight home, then it's straight back into the office. Same for thousands of other Tiger fans. Not everyone can afford 10 days in Omaha, so many just come for the finals whether we're in them or not.

And yes, even LSU has had some bad teams under Smoke Laval, and Mainieri's first team in 2007 was the worst we'd had since before Skip Bertman. The fans still showed up in droves and packed the Box. Of course we prefer winning, but we will always show up and support our teams.

Men's basketball was a rare exception this past season, as I and many other LSU refused to attend games out of protest for the pitiful effort from the players and coaches. It was for the good of the program, and hopefully better times are on the horizon with Will Wade at the helm.

LSU Baseball Fan is good people. He always comes around and never stirs up trouble. He's defending his university's fan base just as so many of us would do should someone begin taking a shot at Aggies.

He wasn't there, he didn't leave early or throw trash on the field. I don't see any reason to bash him for defending his team and fans.
I agree somewhat. LBF is a good poster. However, if Aggies tossed trash on the field, I sure as hell would not be defending them.

But if LSU had won that game there would be a game 3 today which I'm sure those same fans would have also attended so it's not like they were already planning on leaving the next morning, there was still a chance they would have another game to go to.

And the trash thing, there is no defending that...that's just classless.

Why are you guys jumping on LSU Baseball fan?
The guy didn't do anything to you. Didn't say anything bad about the Aggies. Geeez.

Since we are offering opinions, if I paid my money to travel to the game, I can leave whenever I want, and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about it.
We all knew that game was over after Florida had that last push. Why be all judgemental about it? It's not going to do anything for us.

I'm not sure anyone is specifically attacking LSU Baseball Fan the poster. They are dogging his fellow fans and disagreeing with him, but I don't see anyone actually going after him personally.

LSU - their coach, the players, the fans, thought it was a done deal after they beat Oregon State twice. All they had to do was step on the field twice vs Florida and get their rings. The truth was a bitter pill to swallow and it was great to watch the gradual coming to terms with it.

I'm not sure I understand heading for the exits. It's easy to turn off the TV (and I do so), but when you go in person just sit through it. There is always the bar after the game. Now, if trying to beat traffic that is another matter, but this is Omaha, NE.

I've been to every football game the last 17 years and I'm amazed at how the Aggie crowd starts heading home regardless of the score, regardless the sport. I can't make every one of the other sports, but we're not really different than the fan bases we bash.

It's hard to say because we were so scattered but I think it's safe to say there was at least 500 Aggies there for the two games and probably more than that all totaled over the five days. In any case, it wasn't close to what LSU brought. They are truly in a class by themselves in that regard.

I understand their frustration. I turned off the game in the bottom of the 8th myself. It's not fun watching your team lose another national championship. 1/9/12 was miserable, I can tell you that.

These people paid a lot of money to be there, and the team gave them little to get excited about in either game. I love my Tigers, but I'd be pissed watching that in person, too. I'm sure some of you have left early if A&M was losing and you knew there was no comeback on the horizon.

I don't care who you are, watching your team lose is never fun. Especially in a big game.
I thought it was LSU's first loss in a championship game or series. The graphic on tv sad that they were competing for their 7th championship.

Got a lot of respect for LSU as a program. Dislike them passionately, but that's only because they are a top notch baseball program and have been a thorn in our side since 1989.

I have a good friend who is a D1 coach out here on the West Coast. Once asked him what he thought the toughest place to play was in the country. I was half expecting him to say Olsen, but he didn't blink... Alex Box was his favorite place and probably the most challenging for opposing teams. Still had lots of praise and good things to say about Olsen, but felt LSU was the toughest place to play in the country.

He was talking about football when he said he didn't want to watch "another" NC loss.

Unlike football where the result is sometimes physically determined due to lack of time, baseball is NEVER over until it's over because you run out of OUTS never time. There are countless examples of baseball comebacks never possible in other sports, and college teams can collapse under pressure even when up by several runs. Remember Cal coming back in the 9th against Baylor down 8-0? I say your team made it to the last two standing and you have a slim but real chance to watch something amazing like an NC comeback and you just walk out because you "know it's over"? Bad bull.

For a perfectly correct call no less.

And yeah, if my BASEBALL team is down 5 runs and still have more than zero outs left in a championship series I'm staying just in case. There's no clock.

Hell, we all learned that lesson the year before last in basketball as well.

This thread cracks me up....we have Aggie fans on an Aggie message board no less making fun of the most passionate and dedicated college baseball fan base.....23000 were in the game as paid attendants....26000 showed up I among them.....

And you are making fun of us because a few thousand left in the 8th inning of a national title game.....

I respect the Aggie fan base....live and work among them too.

However, this elitist attitude that yall have about how awesome y'all are as fans is so skewed.....

Do I care that y'all wanted us to lose? No that's what a rivalry is about.

Do I care that you are making fun of LSU baseball fans? Yes, we broke the attandance record in Omaha again.....painted Omaha purple and gold. The city loves us and our fans. Sorry we didn't meet your standards of fandom.

1) It was the right call

2) Fans have every right to voice their displeasure

3) Fans have NO right to delay the game, and potentially endanger the players on the field by throwing things into the field of play.

FWIW this has long been a "tradition" of LSU'ers. Throwing things onto the field, throwing things in the stands at the opposing team fans, etc. There is "being passionate" (loud, even obnoxious - A-ok) and then there is being a general *******. I know it's not all, or even most of your fanbase. But it is a substantially larger percentage at LSU than it is at most schools.
