So if we sweep Arkie and LSU sweeps State, we're top 4! That's shocking to me based on the last two weekends. I'm not saying we will do it but I figured we'd need series wins against both the MS teams to get into that position. Go figure - baseball.

Don't we finish 4th if we sweep and Miss St sweeps LSU as well?

If we get swept we could finish 8th in the conference. That is crazy.

A&M starts the weekend at RPI #37.

would be the #6 seed in the SEC tournament right now.

depending on how things go across the conference, the Ags could finish as high as 4th place (#4 seed in Hoover) or as low as 9th place (if South Carolina and Vandy sweep their opponents)

quite a battle going on for the last 2 or 3 host spots. Suddenly a plethora of candidates:

#16 Oklahoma
#17 Arkansas
#18 Arizona
#19 West Virginia
#20 Long Beach

two of the above should make the cut line.

-----

at this point #10 Baylor, #12 Virginia, #13 Stanford, and #14 Southern Miss are safe hosts barring a disastrous weekend. Southern Miss has already clinched the C-USA regular season championship

#61 UCLA (25-23) is an interesting at-large team to watch. The Bruins are 3rd in the Pac-12 standings with a 14-10 conference mark. Have a series win over Stanford and 2 midweek wins vs. Long Beach.

could be one of those west coast teams outside the top 50 that gets an at-large bid at the expense of a team inside the top 40 --- like the potential 9th or 10th team from the SEC. UCLA has the #21 SoS
W

also the West Coast conference has teams bunched just outside the top 50:

#50 Loyola
#52 San Diego
#58 St. Mary's
#70 Gonzaga
#71 BYU -- 1st place in the standings

could be an at-large team or two outside the top 50 from this league

so the damage after tonight's loss...A&M appears to be settling in at RPI #39 with a dreadful 10-16 mark vs. the top 50.

the highest possible seed for the Ags in the SEC tournament is the #6 seed. Could still bottom out at #8 or #9. Assured to finish ahead of Missouri and South Carolina in the final conference standings. But tbd if A&M will finish ahead of Vandy, Auburn, or Ole Miss

W

South Carolina is officially done. Lost their 8th straight series to end the regular season. That's a team that won't get in the field despite a top 40 RPI.

Ole Miss at 13-16 in the league better salvage the finale vs. Auburn tomorrow or the Rebels are likely toast too

how to blow a regional host slot in less than 8 hours...oh my, Baylor swept at home by Kansas State to close the regular season. That leaves BU at 34-19 and 12-12 in the Big 12.

opens the door for OU, but it won't stop raining in Oklahoma. First 2 games of their series vs. OSU have been suspended or cancelled

Opens the door for the sips if they could somehow sweep WVU. May be a reprieve for Mississippi State if they can take the final game against LSU.

LSU wins 11-5. Seventh straight series win for us in Starkvegas. Clinched Western division title.

With a win or rainout tomorrow and a Kentucky win we don't have to share the SEC title. With a win and a Florida win, we share the title.

If we lose and Kentucky wins, there is a three-way split of the title. Only way don't win at least a share of the title is if we lose and Florida wins or the other game rains out.

LSU and the UK-UF winner tomorrow should get the SEC's 2 national seeds

with a win A&M could be the #5 seed in the SEC tournament. Not sure how the tiebreaker would work among Auburn, A&M, and State.

with a loss A&M would be the #7 or #8 seed

UF is a lock, win or lose. If UK beats Florida, and LSU loses, I don't see how LSU would be ahead of Kentucky for a national seed, going to Hoover. If everything breaks right, I suppose we could see 3 national seeds from the SEC, and, if we beat Arkansas, those might be the only three SEC teams to host.

whoa, with 2 wins at #5 Louisville...Florida State (35-20) has shot up into the RPI top 15. But needs to finish the sweep tomorrow to finish above .500 in the ACC.

that suddenly complicates the hosting picture. The ACC looks good for 5 regional hosts at the moment. FSU would be the 6th
W

that's right...Kentucky has a series win over LSU.

also the Wildcats did not play Alabama this season. Should get some bonus points for that

Could another loss tomorrow and a bad performance in the ACC tournament derail Louisville from a national seed? They are obviously a good team, but their schedule is atrocious, and that might come back to bite them in comparison to LSU or UK, if it comes to that.

We have officially run out of gas. We walked 11 and 2 HBP, 4 walks in one inning along with a HBP tonight. Congratulations to LSU taking the last series in the old Dudy Noble, if we don't win tomorrow we probably won't be hosting a regional unless somehow we go deep in the tournament. I just don't see it happening and I don't think we make it out of a regional. I can't even tell you how many times we've left the bases loaded, LSU has bent us over their knee and spanked us with our pants down.

The fact that y'all have stayed alive in the title race this long with such a depleted pitching staff is a testament to outstanding coaching and talented players. Not much you can do in this league when 8 of your pitchers get injured. We were lucky to win tonight. Didn't do much to earn it at the plate, as we are also really bad with RISP.

Wherever State ends up, I pity the teams that have to play y'all. Rooker, Mangum, and Pilkington are beasts. I will always have tons of respect for the State program. Without Ron Polk, there is no LSU dynasty, and no SEC baseball as we know it today.

And I love your stadium more than the Box. It has life and character, while the new Box feels sterile compared to the delapidated, but very intimidating, old Alex Box.

I don't think so. They are still #5 in the RPI, and 23-6 in ACC play. They could lose tomorrow, go 2 and Q at the conference tournament and probably still be a national seed. TCU is probably the team that needs to stumble in order for the SEC to have a shot at three. Probably want Tech to beat Kansas tomorrow in order for Tech to tie TCU for the regular season title and get the one seed at the Big XII tournament (it would be hard to pass over the outright champion of the conference with the highest conference RPI).

Clemson's continued free fall is good for LSU and UK. Having Stanford struggle a bit these last few games would likely secure 3 national seeds for the SEC.

If the season ended today, all 3 would be national seeds according to D1Baseball. Just need to not trip up in Hoover.

Another team that has played their way out of a one seed is Missouri State. They can't host at their ballpark (minor league team that is the prime tenant has a series at home that weekend), but supposedly were putting in a bid to host somewhrere; no need to bother now. A loss to #278 Illinois State knocks them down to 23 in the RPI. Can't imagine that a win tomorrow, and a good showing at their tournament, will get them back into hosting range.

That FSU-Louisville game tomorrow is going to be huge for FSU'so hosting chances. I just can't see the committee rewarding a team with a losing record in conference with a host bid, but win that game, and a second regional for the state of Florida is probably locked up.

OSU and OU will pick up game 1 of their series (which will now be a 2 game series) at 4:35 tomorrow leading 5-2 in the middle of the 5TH. OSU must win both games to make the Big XII tournament. OU probably needs to win both to be on the right side of the hosting bubble.

Long Beach State appears likely to host even if they finish outside the top 16 as they are winning their confirenze decisively, and the committee always grades west coast teams on a bit of a curve. If the season ended today, Arizona might host, but they are only one game over .500 in the PAC-12 with four games left to play (tomorrow at ASU, then 3 next weekend at home against Cal). They will be rooting for Louisville big time tomorrow, as will Arkansas.

That would have the committee going straight chalk with the RPI. As much as I stress the RPI as the committee's starting point, I'd be surprised if that was the final result. Kind of makes it look like you are just coasting when don't at least deviate from the RPI once or twice.

With another win today we can feel good about going 0-1 in Hoover and still getting in without sweating it out at all. That would allow us to throw Larkins Tuesday and roll with Our regular rotation during double elimination on 1 days short rest. Lose today and we probably roll with Hill in game 1 in Hoover.

it's coming down to the wire. I would take the top 12 in Warren Nolan's RPI as host locks. Then the last 4 spots are up for grabs among:

#13 Virginia
#14 FSU
#15 Arizona
#16 Oklahoma
#17 Arkansas
#21 Long Beach

UVA would be a lock if not for a dreadful non-conference SoS of #229. Definitely a lot on the line for the Razorbacks and Sooners today
W
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Louisville is probably going to get away with an awful non-conference schedule (SoS #244) and still get a national seed, since the Cardinals are the ACC regular season champions

Baylor really hurt their chances with being swept in a double header yesterday. Florida State who was on bubble for even making the tourney three weeks ago is now a RPI based host

Interesting that we dropped one sit with the win and Arkansas moved up a spot in the RPI with the Aggies win yesterday

right now there could be four #2 seeds from the lone star state: A&M, BU, UH, and t.u.

that mix would seem to push the Ags toward Fort Worth or Lubbock

. We need to beat Arkansas today and knock them down to a 2 seed, where they would slip into that TCU bracket quite nicely.

credit to the Razorbacks...they played today like a team that wanted to a host a regional.

at 39-15 overall and 18-11 in the SEC, I think they locked up a spot.

that leaves the final three among:

#13 Virginia
#14 FSU
#15 Arizona
#16 Oklahoma
#21 Long Beach
