Went to the last game. The place was wild. People actually jumped up and down back then - not as much anymore. Probably too many kids who grow up playing video games and less actual sports nowadays, I don't know.
We were so good that year. I don't think I've ever been as disappointed in an Aggie sports outcome as I was when we lost to lsu in the super regional. Bitter. Bitter. Bitter. We had the best team in college baseball that year - probably best college team ever.
I was at the tournament this weekend. Now we don't have quite as many choreagraphed fan antics as we did back then but since school is out, there weren't as many students so maybe not a fair comparison. I didn't go to any regular series matchups this year.
Watching the video reminded me of the olympic theme song when a player made a great play in the field. All the fans would turn to the press box and yell "10!" but the press box would always give a 9.9 or lower, never a 10. We counted the practice swings of the batter, sometimes even the steps and the anything in the batter's routine we called out. Was glad to see a bit of that still lives this weekend. The bubbles are a great new addition to the Olsen experience, however. I'm a big fan of that.
Shortly after graduating from A&M I went to a Ranger game. Terribly boring compared to Aggie baseball after that season. I've been ruined with professional baseball ever since.
I've always wondered if other college baseball venues have copied some of our antics over the years. I could totally see tceh copying some of the things we do.
