Other than that, I'm all for witty and creative fan banter/admonishment of the opposition. Just don't go out of your way to make fellow Ags feel uncomfortable because they're not privy to, or wish to engage in, what appears to be routine behavior for certain sections.

The game and atmosphere is much larger than any one section or the current students for that matter. Believing otherwise is not only naive, but rather stupid.

In sum, let loose with the heckling of opposition, embrace your Aggie brethren, and don't go to jail.

Make that 12 pound fighting cock. He had to be stuffed with a turkey form because they didn't have a chicken one large enough.

He's been (mostly) retired.

And 203 isn't Olsen. If you clowns think you ARE the atmosphere, GFY.

You can't hold it for half an inning? And/or your girl can't wait a few extra minutes for that ice cold Pepsi? For the record, I fully expect your response to be something along the lines of "I can get up whenever I damn well please".. I'm just curious.

This is correct. Unfortunately, so is the last sentence. The poor rooster has seen better days. So, until we find something to replace it, the rubber chicken that has been mentioned is subbing in for it.
The rubber chicken was given to us by the guys in the bullpen when we had nothing else.

To be fair, the whole no walking to the concession/bathrooms/etc. thing is more cause we don't wanna be hit by a foul ball that we can't see because you're in the way. And yes it does happen. Ask the girl who took a pop fly from Naquin last year. I value my teeth. So sorry if we get a bit angry about that one.
matt.maggio3
How long do you want to ignore this user?
yeah, that wasn't a popfly...that was a lineshot. Naquin has a rifle in right field, and a laser off the bat...

Chip, If you're out at Aggie Alley as much as me, then probably so!

I don't want to say my name on here but if this helps:
I've been bringing my son out there for the last 7+ years who used to run around as a crazy kid but is now a grown up high school student and still loves it out there but watches the games now. My first name starts with a B and his a P. The rib's name starts with an M. We also have a friend who brings her 2 boys out there. She was the one who made the "It's Better in the Alley" shirts last year. And yes, her and I will have new Alley shirts this year!!

Think you know who I am? Haha! If you don't, I'm sure others on here might.

So, in response to that, you firmly say, "excuse me miss/sir, but I can't see foul balls when you are standing up; would you kindly sit down"; right?

It's generally become a contest of who can be the biggest and loudest attention ***** and/or get his date to chuckle at his extreme wit.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Wearing snorkel gear and a hat with a propeller only gets you so far at Aggie baseball games.

Here's a suggestion for you jackwagons - try acting civil. even at A&M baseball games. You're adults for gosh sakes. Chronologically, anyway.

maybe you should realize that i was ONLY talking about walking during the inning. never once mentioned the rest of the stuff and said the reason we do all of that is to get people to not walk around. maybe people, instead of having to be asked to move out of the way, should have the courtesy to wait for the 90 seconds between innings so that others can enjoy the game and not be at risk for taking a ball to the face (FIFY protected). If you can't do that, sit by the stairs.

And we don't yell at everyone. If you have a child we understand that you can't help it if your kid wants food or to use the bathroom. We don't yell at parents with their kids. If people do, we do our best to stop that. We also don't yell at older people. It's suppose to be current students (who can control their bladder and hunger) and opposing fans of roughly the same age. Sorry if we've mistakenly yelled at you and you fit into one of the former categories. We more than likely policed it ourselves, but if not, I apologize.

matt- i had to word that so that noone could bring up a "balls to the face" joke. that was why i used pop fly instead of other things. though line drive would have been more accurate and just as clean looking back.
matt.maggio3
How long do you want to ignore this user?
baseballag has it correct. Apologies if you have had bad experience in the past, the people who yell at the older fans or fans with little kids we yell Texags at. To those who can wait until between innings (mainly students and such) we yell "BETWEEN INNINGS" at least the people I sit with. Every once in a while we will yell "Can't see" or the really quick witted ones will pretend to announce the game for those of us who can't see. Very rare is there really bad stuff said, and normally we are pretty good at yelling at the person who said it. that said....BETWEEN INNINGS.

and baseballag--family game dude! haha jk.

cant wait to start the season, we took our 8 year old daughter to UC fullerton game a few years ago and she had a blast, her favorite part was chanting the pitchers name, we are stationed in north carolina now and she tells all her friends she wants to go to a&m so she can heckle pitchers

Oh we have a blast heckling the left fielder out in Aggie Alley. My son loves doing it too! He still has to work on his creativity a bit but he's getting better! Poor boy will be working tonight (finally a working man!) but I will be there giving no quarter!

I was around when Olsen first opened and went to the first game. Thinks were very different in those days. For one thing, you had no problem getting seats. Much more laid back and the Raggies were not on the scene.

I do remember the time a tcu player flipped us all off but the Raggies were on the rise by then.

Once, I was sitting in one spot and moved for some reason. Back then and on that day there were wide open spaces in the stands. Anyway a few minutes after I moved I heard a loud crash and felt vibrations. One of those large speakers from the roof had fallen right where I'd been sitting before. It left a deep gash in the aluminum bleacher. I guess God wasn't ready for me yet.

Yep. For three months y'all get to wear Ralphie pink bunny suits, yell at children and old people, and be considered "cool" by all those within' a 4 foot radius.

Let the games begin...

Mad? Hardly.

30, 40 year old men acting like 5 year olds and cat-calling coeds is about as gut-busting funny as you can get. In a pathetic kind of way..

Who's 30 or 40 and sits in 203? Serious question. There's not a ton of those lately.

So which is it? "yelling at old people and kids"? "cat calling coeds"? Do you even know if those things happen these days? Frankly you don't even deserve a response because that's exactly what you're trolling for. But just because a few guys act like a-holes from time to time, let's not go throwing all of the rest of us who really love Aggie Baseball into this stereotype of yours. Or just hide behind your Internet keyboard and keep talking sh** to other Aggies. Whichever you prefer.

aggiejz,

I assumed the OP is class of '03, which would make him about 31. Doesn't matter. 20 something doesn't make it better..

The rest is in the by-laws

What am I saying that's wrong?

Also, if you say it's just a handful of weirdos, I believe you.

If I am mistaken, it is only because of what I have read on here. They are pretty open about their antics - yelling at people walking by, whistling at girls, harassing people because of what they're wearing, and of course, confronting people in a hostile manner who are sitting in a GENERAL ADMISSION seat they feel they are entitled to because, well, that's THEIR seat.

Again, if this doesn't happen, so be it. Just say so and I'll believe you. Otherwise, what did I say that's wrong?

Like I said, your first post basically threw all of us into the same category of "you guys all act like idiots and try to pretend like you're cool". I'm not denying that some of those things still happen. Do I think most of that stuff is dumb? Yes, I do. I will say that the whistling as girls hasn't been as prevelant. If people who choose to walk in front of everyone while an inning is being played, they are gonna have "between innings" yelled at them because that's how someone gets their jaw broken by a Tyler Naquin foul ball.

All I am trying to say is don't stereotype the majority because of the actions of a select few. Most of us are out there (and on the countdown thread all offseason) because we love Aggie Baseball. Not because we love making fun of someone who shows up wearing a shirt brighter than the sun and croakies.

From 5 years ago..? And that's the thing about Olsen, everyone kind of has a different way of doing things. It's not like Florida State where they literally have a book telling you things to do.

Look, overall I don't think we totally disagree about some of the things that happen that probably shouldn't. We police people who are using foul language or being general idiots as best we can. But like I said, don't assume that all of us are like those select few people.

The only rule is enjoying sitting outside and watching a baseball game. There used to be a higher student interest, and when Aggie Alley was the Wild West, it was truly the heyday of the Olsen experience.

We don't need people getting doing their comedy routine and bothering people like we don't need thin-skinned people harboring grudges over being told to move when they were trying to find seats where there aren't any while someone continues to foul liners into the seats around them.

Fans should be welcoming of anyone wanting to watch a game, but I also hope the students are never too mature that they don't let an opponent know they have a funny sounding name, run like a girl, or have a t-shirt wiener during their entire AB.
