What will be the new seating capacity vs. the "old" Olsen? Thanks.

There will be some seats that are not there anymore and then there will be some seats that are added. But seriously...I have heard that the capacity will decrease from 7,000 to 5,400 but with the standing room capacity to still reach 7,000. So apparently there wont be much change.

the two berms they are adding will not equal the old bleachers. the added seats will not equal those taken away. fixed seating will be way less, seating including the grass will still be less. I don't see where there will be all that much added standing area especially if you cannot stand behind the first deck anymore.
really only a few games a year where capacity is an issue and the tu and BU games seem to be going bye bye, so that just leaves the parents weekend game.

If seating capacity becomes an issue, we should just storm the luxury suites and see how many people we can cram in those!

seats will be way less.

overflows will goto berms.

Im not a huge fans of berms, sat on Berm this past summer at TCU regional and once at Texas. kids running everywhere, sliding down berm on cardboard. kids not paying attention, accident waiting to happen.
too minor leaugish for me

The berm is good for lots of people. Sounds like you should pony up for tickets elsewhere.

You will be surprised how many SEC fans, especially LSU and Miss State fans, will come to Olsen especially if late in the season. They travel and tailgate at baseball games.

If you normally reserve an RV space at Olsen, you had better reserve it asap.

I hadn't even considered the attendance impact of not having tu (and to a lesser extent BU) games any more. But you're right... we're losing some of our biggest attendance games of the year.

Baylor quit being a big draw 4 or 5 years ago

Attendance will be interesting to track

Aggiefan#1, I have been a season ticket holder at Olsen for 24 years but thanks for the suggestion that I should " pony up for tickets elsewhere"

And as mentioned the Baylor game lost its big draw several years ago. There was a time back in the late 90's when the Baylor series was a bigger draw than the Texas series.
And as far as attendance goes. Yes losing the Texas series is disappointed, but from an attendance standpoint when you're adding Mississippi State, LSU, Alabama, Florida, south Carolina I don't really see attendance suffering.

and the fans (4,403) showed up for the Tuesday night game vs. Fullerton last year. And I believe that was during spring break

Trying to match the old attendance capacity though is crazy, the old RF bleachers were a monstrosity and nobody wanted to sit there. I would rather be at the same with better seats and better venue than have that eyesore out there.

"Right-field berm" just wont have the same ring to it as the chant "Right-field bleachers" did.

SEC baseball is definitely well attended, but we are a log ways from USC and Florida. Even miss st is 10 hours. Lsu will draw real well. Will be interesting to see what attendance does. First couple years of a major renovation to Olsen plus the first cycle of the sec teams and the last trips for the big 12 teams should really help attendance the next few years if we put a decent product on the field.
BU was well attended last year not so much on Sunday but that was the teams fault

What about "Right-field hill-side" to make it two syllables?

Last year BU was Parents' Weekend.

All that matters is the seating in 203

Wasnt there talk of eventually adding left-to-center bleachers where Aggie Alley currently is?

No point in building a big stadium when you can't put butts in the seats.

reduced to 5,450 (+berm).

http://www.12thmanfoundation.com/priority-seating/baseball/faq.aspx

Q. What will the seating capacity be following the stadium renovation?
A. Following completion of the stadium renovation, permanently affixed seating capacity will be 5,450. The lawn seating along the berms will provide additional seating opportunities as well. The stadium design will also allow temporary seating options to be put in place in order to accommodate larger crowds.
