Hawaii might have a great facility, I don't know. The reason they won't host is there aren't any teams that can drive to their site. The selectoin committee is mandated to have as few teams fly as possible in order to save money, and flying three teams to Hawaii - an expensive flight - will not be an option. We see 1-seeds shipped every year for this reason (Arizona and Arizona St. for example) and Hawaii will always be in this category as well.
Playing at home is obviously the best option but a protected 1-seed on the road isn't terrible either - in my opinion - as long as you aren't in Amherst, MA. The Aggies experience up there in 2006 was terrible in every aspect.
As it stands right now, the Ags have a much better chance of hosting as a 2-seed - with Hawaii as the 1-seed in C.S. - than they do as a 1-seed. If the Ags jump OSU in the RPI by sweeping or splitting with them today then they will be positioned to be 1-seed and will most likely be shipped.
All that being said it still comes down to how many teams get in to the tourney that can bus to LSU, ut and A&M. We need teams like Houston, SFA, Centenary, La. Tech, ULL, Miss. Valley St. and others to win their conference tourneys or get an at-large.
