I guess you can argue that if we can avoid the big inning we'll be ok but failing to bring in a runner on 3rd with 0 out is and will always be embarrassing

Hope to see Wacha in the Tuesday role from now on.

What gets to me is not bunting either Aurthur or Greene. I know the infield was in, but you have to atleast try.

I completely agree with bunting in that situation...Get the run to tie and then think about a big inning.

bad loss today

that's enough of Ehlert. Good grief, picking up where he left off last year. Throwing batting practice. Faced 17 batters and gave up 8 hits. C'mon, give me someone else on Tuesdays.

are you guys crazy...there was nobody out..the infield was in.
all you needed was a fly ball or to hit the ball thru the infield..had 2 chances to do that...with the top of the order up.
no reason to bunt

if he had bunted and popped the ball up to the pitcher and doubled the runner off 3rd you guys would be screaming about "why were we bunting"

easy to second guess..but with 0 out and the tying run on 3rd..dont need to bunt..you got 3 chances to get em in and really high percentage with less than 2 outs

That loss was EMBARRASSING.

For those of you talking about Ehlert...don't think Wacha wasn't auditioning when he came in. Ehlert had a strong first time through the lineup (I think one of those first 2 hits in the 3rd could have been an error), so we may see him changing roles soon because of the length of time he can be effective.

No, we didn't need to try a bunt.

Also worth pointing out....our leadoff hitter, Arthur, is 3-15 now with a .250 OBP. Brodie was 0fer and the Top 3 guys (Arthur, Greene, Collazo) I think were a combined 1-14 (double and a HBP). Collazo is also 3-15 on the season.

Good thing it's a long baseball season. I'm thinking there aren't too many more like that one.

SFA is pretty good.

Not shocked to see this result.

They're not awful by any means, but I don't think it's going too far to say we should expect to win that one.

It's baseball. One thing about baseball is that it's never a predictable game. SFA is not bad enough to where we step on the field and win. Trust me I know.

Guys, don't sugar coat it. That is a bad loss. SFA has only had their program back for a few years. They are in the class of even a Texas St. or Sam Houston St.

You have to have Tuesday pitchers who can dominate a lineup like SFA's.

I applaud Clayton's efforts and believe that he is a very solid, above average pitcher--on a highschool level unfortunately. All last season, and now this season, he gets in front of hitters but simply does not have a pitch to get them out. When he finally chunks it in on a 3-2 count, it gets tagged and the baserunners are off and running. I think that Wacha and Stilson may be our best bets for midweek starters, at least until Stilson is starting on weekends!

hey scott and the other delusional aggies, looks like larrylivingston/jesselivermore was right. ehlert is not very good.

but scott, in his defense he did get those wins last yr vs some very good competition: SFA, UT arlington, UTSA, SAM, prairie view.

are you still going to try to defend ehlert?

Good thing you're not a baseball coach then. You wouldnt win many close games.

It has nothing to do with playing for a big inning. When you get a runner to third with no outs, the chances are far greater that one of the next two hitters will put it in play (at least a fly ball) than pushing the runner in with a bunt.

I think it's pretty predictable that this team can't get runners in when in scoring position with no outs.

Looks like you're a dick. Why would you say Ehlert is "not very good"? The guy has been productive for us before and still has a year on the roster to either turn things around or become more effective in a different role. No reason to take a s*** on one of our players so you can fit in an "I told you so" after he takes the mound one time.

Scott should have tried the bunt...

He's been trying to leadoff bunt (horrible idea) and just isn't fast enough. He CAN put down a good bunt though.

If he doesn't get the run in, Brodie swings away (which he did) going for the SAC.

one thing I didn't see pointed out yet was the switching and "tryouts" going on...

Caleb ended up at third (finally!) again after missing a few somewhat difficult plays at 1st.

Alcazar started behind the plate. My guess is they wanted to see his game reactions. Some of his stops just weren't as clean as they needed to be, and there was one time that he paused to try to get a K while SFA took 2nd. Take out that pause and K or not, there are 3 outs.

We've known from the get go that our positions and batting order isn't set yet.

From the broadcast, it seems Ehlert gutted to many pitches at the belt and as some have stated, he doesn't seem to have that get out pitch. Maybe it is early in the season but a starting pitcher has to live at the knees for the most part. Alot of pitches left over the middle of the plate.

and tonight's loss against WKU...that's why you never like to see bad baseball. The bad loss to SFA begat another bad loss tonight.
