As usual, that is the only smack you have.

Right, because you haven't provided everyone with an endless list of things to cut on you with

Oh and that pitch to in the eighth, with the bases loaded. full count and one out, was not a strike

you really want to get into that over THAT game?

Start counting bad ball/strike calls and you'll see that your argument is pretty vague.

this is one of the worst final 2 innings in a game in CWS history.

this isn't drama, this is terrible pitching from both sides with an unbelievably inconsistent umpire.

What he said. Atrocious pitching by both sides and the ump was not consistent on the outside pitches for either team. Crappy baseball and both teams deserved to lose that game.

I'm glad Texas won but they had better figure it out real quick. That was just bad baseball. USM choked just slightly worse than Texas which enabled Texas to advance to the winner's bracket.

Umpire sucked both ways. Texas didn't get any more favors than Southern Miss. You would have to be pretty irrational not to realize that.

to wrap up this thread...

does anyone still want to argue that the 13-inning 160+ pitch-performance against Boston College did not ruin Wood for the rest of the postseason?

he was very ineffective in critical situations vs. LSU in games 1 and 3. And gave up runs in the wins over ASU and USM. Had control problems with walks and HBPs and was not overpowering with strike outs.

In the 6 games prior to the 13 inning appearance against Boston College, Wood's ERA was 5.10 and his worst outing of the year was when he got ripped by A&M...a team that finished 6th in the conference and didn't even get to the championship game of a weak regional...on May 8th,10 games before the Boston College outing. In the May 8th game he went 2.2 innings and gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits. How did the Boston College game affect him in this game?

In another bad outing, on May 20th, 5 games before the Boston College game, Wood pitch 1/3 of an inning and gave up 3 earned runs? This game was against Baylor.

Against two teams, who didn't make it out of their regionals and who finished 6th and 8th in the Big 12, Wood pitched 3 innings and gave up 7 earned runs...for an ERA of 21.00.

The competition level increased dramatically after the Boston College game too.

The Boston College game was an anomaly, not the standard, it doesn't mark a change in Wood's effectiveness...and it certainly didn't have the negative effect critics believe it did.
