Do you think Uri would publicly come out and say "I know there is no chance in hell that Manny would come down here. We have a crappy ballpark and can only pay him in free hotdogs, so he should probably stay in LA." No, he's going to try to sound as real as possible he's selling it to the fans, not Manny. Lighten up...

It creates a buzz about the team if nothing else. I guess. If it makes 5 more people buy season tickets, that's an extra $1000 in Uri's pocket. I've gone to quite a few games over the last couple of years and have really enjoyed them... I hope this team (and the TCL) sticks around for many years to come.

I can figure out just fine when somebody is joking. However, I just dont understand why the BV Bombers would think that more people would go to the games simply b/c they said they are trying to get Ramirez to play for them? Of course they are located in Bryan?

There's an old adage that "any publicity is good publicity". This is a) FREE publicity and b) generally, not BAD publicity (except to a handful or curmudgeons). It didnt cost BVBa dime to have a bunch of people talking about the team. If you dont understand the simple, basic value of that.....

This is very common among minor league teams across the country

We happen to live in a town where this is so far out of the norm it creates criticism instead of humor

You should look into the Golden Baseball League offering $1,000,000 to Rickey Henderson to go into the HOF as a SurfDawg

oh yeah the Brazos Valley Bombers are trying to acquire Manny Ramirez to play baseball for free...how genius is that? I cannot believe that other TCL or semi-pro teams didnt think of this...I hope the Texas Budweiser softball team doesnt go after Manny...I hear he is somewhat of beer drinker...Make this Happen Bombers...I'm getting my season tickets now!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!
