LSU. Old school rivalry that never really ended, we just weren't playing for a number of years.

Because they owed us 100K or something and never paid up. In the 90s, that was a lot of money.

LSU. The close proximity will set this off sooner or later

Aggies will forever be *****ing about LSU dropping them back whenever.

It is correct that LSU doesn't really view TAMU as a real rival.

Get competitive and it may change.

A rivalry has to have a reason for being so or they're just another opponent. You can't decide to create it - it has to happen on its own.

Right now? LSU, then Arky or Bama .... For all the reasons mentioned above.

LSU and Arkansas are the top rivals...akin to Texas and Tech. I think South Carolina could become a really good one sort of like Florida and LSU have become and like what A&M-OU had at times (when either of us didn't suck). The Mizzou rivalry is more underrated than people give it credit for. Bama is a good one but let's see us compete short term and see it last long term.

1. Bama for the prestige of beating them.

1a. LSU, the t.u. of Louisiana without the academics, just the blowhard, obnoxious, inbred fans.

Ever been to an A&M/Mizzou game.

I have. It was boring. No different from Iowa State or Kansas State, regardless of the quality of play, rivalries are about passion, and there is absolutely NONE with Mizzou.

There is a reason the game will be on Thanksgiving week. LSU

1. LSU
2. Bama
3. Arkansas

I believe those will be our big rivalry games going forward, in that order.

I am going to say LSU followed by Arkansas. Alabama already has a full dance card. Auburn will probably always be at the top and Tennessee will always be #2. Tide and the Vols are the only SEC schools with a rowing team and it is no accident. If the Vols started a tiddlywink team the Tide would have one within a week. LSU probably has the #3 spot on the Bama dance card. Like it or not, Mizzou will probably wind up as #3 because of past history and jumping the Nutless 9 together.

Laugh if you will but unless Texas A&M gets a gymnastics team and starts tailgating they will be down the list. SEC rivals go well beyond just a single sport.

We continue to steal the top recruits from LA, and start to win on the field, LSU will be the big one..

If we continue to compete on the field with Bama..then I could see it being a rivalry but Bama is a "rivalry" for everyone who plays them, thats just how it is when you're on top.

LSU is our #1 rival, but we need to beat them this Thanksgiving to get that established or else they will see us as just another Mississippi State on their schedule. Nobody else comes close.

The SEC West. The true test of a rivalry is:

If both teams came into the game 4-7, would the fans still show up wanting to see blood? Would they still feel deeply satisfied beating the rival, even though there was no bowl game and the coach was probably about to get fired?

With tu, the answer was yes. Not many of us hate L$U or Arkie that much. Another poster said it best: "You dont just decide to be rivals. It happens over many, many years."

Without a doubt LSU. With the game played on Thanksgiving and rotating home games, it should be our greatest rivalry. I agree that Al and AU already have their cards full, and Ark makes for a good grudge matchup from our SWC days.
But as far as an SEC East rival, I would prefer annual match ups with Florida. I hate Muschamp, their "swamp" and their entitlement attitude. We don't have anything in common with SC,Vandy, KY, TN, Georgia, or Mizzu except they were from our old BDF12 conf.
How was the decision to pair us with SC made? How long is it locked in for or can it be changed after two-four years?

L$who. In addition to all the geographical and recruiting reasons, don't underestimate the bad blood from the past. However unlike in the past, they cannot cancel the series once we start to own them. Ownership is on the horizon. Battered Tiger Syndrome is coming. We will beat them so bad the NFL will suspend us.

I think we'll have 3 or 4 in a matter of 10 years or so and that's cool too. Very cool actually as big games are what the SEC is all about. I love this! Best decision we could have made. Being ridiculed while we were in the process of making that decision makes it all the more satisfying now.

Ownership? LSU is 29-20 all time against a&m. The best A&M has done in a streak was 6-4 from 1986-1995. They did win 5 in a row. While A&M is much better now than they were just 5 years ago is obvious but to think you will own LSU is very wishful thinking. Nevertheless it should be some great match ups in the future.

That all-time record amazes me with how close it is considering the circumstances. It includes a long period of time in which we played every year in red stick. Forget the home field advantage that would naturally go with the home team of two evenly matched squads.......the fact that we were in a position to have to agree play a road game evey year is no small deal.

Still, I've been around enough not to expect to 'own' them. No one is going to own us though.
