Game Wrap up & Preview
Last week, our then-#14 Ranked Fightin' Texas Aggies took care of business and beat the brakes off the overmatched, unranked Vanderbilt Commodores, 56-24. The Commodores came into Kyle Field having never played the Aggies.
This week our BCS-#12 Ranked Fightin’ Texas Aggies welcome Conference USA-power UTEP, to Kyle Field. The struggling Miners of the University of Texas-El Paso, come to Kyle Field with a record of 1-6 overall, and a 0-4 record in C-USA. This is the third meeting of these two storied programs, with our Aggies holding a 2-0 advantage, historically, over the Miners.
Last week, the Fighting Kuglers dropped a close one to the Aggies Week 1 Opponent, Rice, by a score of 45-7. They also lost their starting quarterback, Jameill Showers, to a third-degree separation of his shoulder. Jameill reported on Twitter that he is out for the season, and will probably need surgery. It’s a little disappointing for the Aggies to not get to play against their former back-up quarterback and friend. Hopefully, the injury isn’t too serious and Jameill heals quickly.
The Aggies are averaging 584.9 total yards of offense, with 207.9 yards rushing and 377 yards passing, and 48.0 points per game. The Miners are averaging 407.4 total yards of offense, with 211 yards rushing and 196.4 yards passing, and 27.7 points per game.
