Coach Mumme would be the perfect fit for A&M!! He knows the system and would be able to step right in without skipping a beat. I've had the opportunity to talk to the man and he knows his stuff!!

I agree. Mumme could step right in and even improve on KK and KK was great.

Nixon was a huge college football fan. Remembered details from plays in big games well into his old age. But I seriously doubt he was calling for two points in that picture.

Why would it be a bad hire? Dude basically invented the offense we're running.

Might be why he picked his #2 man.

I keep my sources confidental, but he was at a table of about eight guys, mostly in suits....looked like a lot of serious talk...

I think Hal would be a solid OC. Those that disagree, please tell me why.

Mumme has a great offensive mind.

I've seen him in action many times... guy knows his stuff... Would be a great hire...

Think his days as a HC are behind him, but he would be a lights out OC....

He's an old fart (same as me). Can he relate to young, free spirit kids with swag who live their lives on twitter?

Sumlin and his coachs, including KK, obviously can.

IMO that's one reason Sherman (who I greatly respect) did not have success here.

Mumme strikes me as a terrific consultant, source of advice, etc. But I think the dynamics of college football and the nature of the young kids who play the game are not his cup of tea. In other words, the coaching part of the game passed him by long ago.

I can vouch for Raven's account of the story, but I'm keeping my sources close to the vest!!

Nothing wrong with the OP. Made me look the guy up.

I just saw Mumme walking out to his car. I walked up to shake his hand and say Gig'em. I looked over at the passenger seat, and there was a half dozen black Adidas A&M polos, a couple of white visors, and a case of 5-hour energy drinks.

Perhaps Hal will be hired as an offensive assistant to sit upstairs and help KS and our new OC fully implement the air raid, helping Johnny break his own records next year.

Mumme is a very charismatic guy who relates well and has always been well liked by his players. Personality wise, he would be a good fit on our staff. Yeah, he's getting long in the tooth, but this won't affect his ability to gain the respect and admiration of our players. I know the guy and know a few that have played for him.

I like it. Anything that will help us maintain what we have going I'm for.

When not June Jones? Or David Klingler?

June Jones and Klingler are not air raid people. They ran run and shoot which is very different from air raid. Mumme is the one.

You mean the "old one"?

Move forward. Not backwards.

Pick one of the young guys pushing the offense to be even better. Not a relic coaching DIII.

Sumlin knows to look to the future. His hiring Kingsbury showed that. He'll do it again.

Given our offense, Mumme is the gold standard....I can hardly fathom how good we would be with Hal working with Johnny for the next three years....Johnny has just scratched the surface of what he can be, and with good coaching and his work ethic he can be the best quarterback to ever play in this offense....that will not happen on its own, however, he needs great coaching as his game develops and he learns to deal with the challanges that smart defensive coaches throw at him.... I agree...Mumme is the one...
